Refreshing! But nothing special. The passion fruit overpowers the lemon.

Bursting with garlic flavor. Melts in your mouth.

Abit expensive nonetheless.
Takes longer to prepare as well

The fish is very fresh, no fishy smell at all. The flesh is firm which I prefer. But beware that there’s a lot of bone.
Added frozen tofu, lotus root, potato slices, sweet potato noodles and cheese tofu.

Delicious!

Choosing limbo fish today! It is a good pairing with the green pepper. I personally think the “numb” and “spice” for the green pepper is tolerable for a novice in eating spicy food like me. However, the soup feels too salty for my liking, so I always eat the fist with rice, to moderate the saltiness.

1 limbo fish is suitable for 2-3 people.

We visited Tan Yu at Westgate today and we got our usual fish with green chillies and peppercorn! We went for the limbo fish today, as it is the most tender fish that Tan Yu has on its menu, and it also does not have many bones as well. Furthermore, the fish was prepared really skilfully and it did not come with a fishy smell, so we would strongly encourage everyone to get the limbo fish on their first visit to Tan Yu!

Even though green chillies were used for this dish, you should not underestimate the spiciness of this dish. It is definitely not as spicy as mala, but it can still pack a punch by the later stage of your meal! Hence, if you are not good with spicy food, do ask the staff to reduce the spiciness level of the dish. Otherwise, the combination of green chillies and peppercorn really gives the gravy a tantalizing aroma and I poured quite a lot of it over my rice to add more flavour.

The price is steep and it comes to around $46++ without the side dishes. The sides cost $3.90++ per item or you can get a combo for $13++ which includes lotus roots, enoki mushrooms and potatoes - this is quite worth it!

However, we were quite disappointed by the service today, as we waited close to an hour for our fish to be ready. :( I guess in future, we should avoid the peak hours on weekends 😅
