Very generous with the ground peanut. As you bite into the pancakes, the ground peanut is falling off constantly due to the abundance. The pancake has a unique chewiness that I have not found in Man Jian Pancakes elsewhere. At 90cents a piece, this is a real gem and we will all be sorry when it is gone.

I just wonder if it will taste even better if I come earlier in the morning when it’s freshly made….

Always a must buy when u head to Tanglin Halt food centre. The peanut pan cake (min jiang keuh) from Tanglin Halt Original Peanut Pancake is really the best around imo. It’s crispy round the edges but soft, gooey and chewy inside. They are super generous with their peanut and sugar filling and there’s always extra which spills out into the box for you to mop up

During my first visit to the stall they were sold out as early as 11am. On my second visit finally I got to try this famous pancake after an hour queue. Overall this pancake is a pleasant snack or dessert item.

The dough of this pancake is interesting. It’s made in a different way using a starter dough, and the result is a gummy kueh-like texture. Some people think it’s undercooked, but personally I liked it, and felt it went well with the crunchy, sweet peanut filling.

Do note that the waiting time can be long, as the elderly couple make each large pancake one at a time, and there’s a long waiting time between each large pancake. At 8.30am on a weekday, there were about 10 people ahead of me in the queue and I waited 50min.

Someone warned me to bring a spoon. It was a good suggestion. The peanut crumbs fell out of the pancake easily and without the spoon I would have quickly gotten into a sticky mess.

It took us at least 1 hr from 8am on a weekend to get our hands to these pancakes! The pancakes feel like a combination of MJK and mochi that are soft on and inside with a dense and chewy mochi texture.

The peanut pancake is loaded with a generous amount of fragrant and freshly ground peanuts mixed with sugar. We also tried the black sesame/yam paste pancake and found the former to be too dry and grainy while the latter is smooth, creamy and not too sweet.

They offer a variety of flavours, but my favourite is still their peanut min jiang kueh! It’s the traditional type, with a grainy peanut + sugar mix. Their pancakes are distinct as they are chewy, kinda mochi-like - going to come here more often as the Tanglin Halt area is going to be redeveloped in future :(
