King River Prawn Thai Braised Glass Noodle ($36) - Absolutely ginormous prawns, complete with roe, nestled atop a bed of prawn broth-infused tanghoon. Tanghoon could have benefited from some garlic and lard, but overall it was enjoyable.

Claypot Pad Kra Prao Pork Cheek ($34) - Tender chunks of braised pork cheeks in a basil sauce. Felt the pad kraprao-ness could have been stronger, overall tasted like sweet dark sauce with a touch of basil.

Cocktails were unique and well worth trying! Had the Spicy Mango Sour (top left, $16) and Thai Basil Martini (bottom right, $18).

Helmed by Chef-Owner Darwin Ong who has a wealth of culinary experience under this belt (JIDAI & Beurre), @tarathaisg is the first Thai contemporary omakase restaurant in 🇸🇬 which boasts a clever fusion play on authentic Thai fare with specialty food and cocktails!👍

Here’s what we enjoyed for the 7-course Thai Omakase, priced at only SGD48!😬
1️⃣Deep Sea Crab Salad with Charcoal Crackers
2️⃣Hokkaido Scallop with Avruga Caviar
3️⃣Green Lip Abalone with Lemongrass Basmati
4️⃣Tara Signature Crocodile Ribs cooked in Tom Yum Spicy Clear Broth
5️⃣Challan Duck with Massaman Yellow Curry
6️⃣Watermelon Vodka, Les Carolines
7️⃣Caramel Coconut Red Ruby

Overall, the ingredients used were all very fresh and each course did not disappoint our palates.😛

If I had to pick my top 3 favourites, it would be 1️⃣, 4️⃣ & 5️⃣.

1️⃣ boasts a flavourful mix of prawn broth, crab roe miso and shallot oil. It was refreshing and definitely got me craving for more deliciousness next.

4️⃣ reminded me of Leng Saap (Spicy Pork Spine Soup). The exotic crocodile ribs were surprisingly succulent and the aromatic tom yum soup was too SHIOK to stop slurping.

5️⃣ features the lean and tender red meat with a crisp skin, simmered in tasty coconut-rich curry. The fried crunchy rice cake elevated the overall texture of this dish.

I’m usually not fond of red ruby desserts but their Caramel Coconut Red Ruby did manage to impress me.😌

Back at Tara Thai for their contemporary Thai food 🇨🇷! Besides their usual a la carte menu, you can now opt for their 7 or 9-course omakase for a gastronomical expeience! 😋

We enjoyed their 7-course omakase menu ($48). All the dishes were yummy, especially this Jade abalone with jasmine scented xo rice: love the drizzle of the homemade oyster sauce 🤎 on the fragrant & chewy rice 🍚! Abalone was really chewy & the abundant fried basil leaves 🌿 added a nice crunch without carrying any strong flavours (surprisingly). Nice dish! 😋

Tara Thai is a contemporary Thai restaurant that offers bold and reimagined Thai classics, courtesy of Chef Darwin and native Thai chef Rit. For an unforgettable dining experience, opt for their 3 Course Set Menu which comes with dishes such as the Spanish Mackerel Ceviche, Iberiro Pork Pad Kra Pao, and the Spiny Lobster Thai Vermicelli. If you’ve got a big appetite, you could even go for the 5 Course!

Their Mussel Green Curry ($21++) 🦪 served with sour dough 🍞 carried strong Thai flavours! Mussels were pretty fresh and not sandy. Dip the toast in the curry to enjoy! 💚
