Also new at Irodori Food Alley at Jurong Point is Tenfuku Tendon Specialty, which yet another new concept that is by the RE&S group behind brands such as Ichiban Sushi/Bento/Boshi and Wadori. Tenfuku Specialty Tendon is one of the few stalls located within the "food court" where patrons dine at the communal seating area.
Offering four types of Tendon and three sauces (original, spicy or Yuzu Pepper), I opted for the Mega Tendon Set since it has the various tempura pieces from every set combined, while going for the limited edition Yuzu Pepper sauce. The Signature Mega Tendon Set comes with Anago (Sea Eel), long beans, mushroom, egg, Ebi and pumpkin — some pieces such as the egg and pumpkin had the fried batter peeling off fairly easily, though most were reasonably crisp though could have been better. The tempura egg was slightly overdone, with some parts of the egg yolk being solid though still managed to flow a little. Thought the Yuzu pepper sauce was somewhat bright and zippy at the start, but the pepper that followed seem to carry a hint of the aroma from Si Chuan peppers less the spiciness; felt a little too salty after a while. Overall not a bad option at Irodori Food Alley (and definitely better than my experience at Ginzushi just a day back), but it's certainly a little far away from the standards set by the Tendon chains with a constant queue in town.
