Decided to try the soba set ($11.90+) instead of the usual rice tendon set. The tempura's not too oily and was pretty good. However, the soba was a bit mushy - which wasn't too my taste.

Venue: SingPost, level 2
Price: $9.90+

Description: Salmon is fresh & tasty.
The sides besides is the best combi to eat with.
Tomatoes, Egg, Jap Cucumber, Prickles.

Surprisingly decent tendon can be found at Tensho. Their signature mixed tendon that day was freshly fried, crisp and not at all oily. I liked the variety and quantity of ingredients including long beans, eggplant, sweet potato, prawns and fish, not to mention the glorious tempura egg that had a lightly battered crunchy coating, giving way to a golden, molten yolk within. The rice is of a noticeably higher grade than what you would expect of a casual foodcourt stall concept, and the sweet and spicy sauce drizzled over went really well with it.

Taste: 3.5/5

You get what you pay for - cheap, excessively oily, but I’d come here again for fast Japanese food

As the name suggested, the Mixed Tendon (S$9.90) had a variety of tempura items, including ebi (prawn), eggplant, sweet potato, long beans and the hidden surprise of a tempura onsen egg: slightly breaded on the outside but the yolk remained runny!

The portion of rice given in this donburi is relatively sufficient, but for those who wish to “complete” the meal, they could add-on the Chawanmushi, Miso soup and a beverage with a slight top-up from S$3.60 onwards.

However, as the restaurant is housed in Platform M, which is a cashless food place, be prepared to pay by credit card or their in-house pre-paid card. Because of such a restriction, I witnessed some customers walk away at the point of payment, simply because they are unable to pay in those modes. Pity.
