[CLOSED] TFS Private Works

* This place has closed :( Please try somewhere else. * Since opening The Flying Squirrel (TFS) in 2013, the team behind the successful casual Japanese restaurant decided on a spin-off from the original, resulting in TFS Private Works. While maintaining the same philosophy as TFS, fresh food and good service in a cosy urban-chic setting, Private Works extends a different experience by focusing on Omakase-style dining & Japanese-inspired Tapas. Food courses are designed and served personally by Private Works’ chefs, and still retain the signature flavors and twists of our cuisine. Samurai and Geish-themed Omakase courses include fresh seasonal sashimi and sushi from quality imports, alongside innovative, yet hearty courses from the hot kitchen. Some highlights from the Tapas menu include Baked Oysters, a Wagyu Carpaccio and Japanese Tacos among others. Those who would prefer an ala carte experience can also choose from our selection of rice bowls, like a Bara Chirashi or Wagyu Don, or signature Makis too.

This savoury tapas is ideal as an opening act and plays well with sake. One of my must-haves when I hit the joint; it can be really addictive as your bite into your first morsel of meat. Awesome stuff!

Shop opening day 2, and he has gotten a part-timer to help him. So here I am lazing on the sofa while they work away 🙊🙊 Thinking about the dinner we brought his friend to prior to his Japan outstation work trip. This outlet we brought him to is called "The Flying Squirrel Private Works" which is the more "atas" outlet of the original "The Flying Squirrel". TFS Private Works is a contemporary Japanese tapas restaurant, and they serve really interesting and yummy food admist their cozy ambience.
This is their appetizer which is like a pea-based paste (or so I think) which is actually unique and has a subtle taste of pea which I like 👍👍

By the guys behind The Flying Squirrel comes this cosy Japanese tapas bar cum omakase joint. Squirrelled away (haha) on a second floor shophouse in Telok Ayer (they're right above Park Bench Deli), the classy space serves up amazingly tasty moreish munchies that would go fabulously with their well-curated menu of sake (from $65 a carafe) and whisky (from $19 a glass). The intimate setting and soft lighting make it perfect for a romantic date too. We like that the tapas menu is compact and simple. Settle in by the bar and order the Parmesan Chicken ($10) — the bite-sized pieces of deep-fried karaage are topped generously with shaved parmesan, resulting in an umami bomb in every mouthful. The Soft Shell Crab ($15) and Japanese Calamari ($13) are simple, but hit the spot. For something more substantial, try the rice bowls — both the Bara Chirashi ($25) and Grilled Unagi Rice ($24) are very tasty and generous on the protein.
Avg price: $50 per person with drinks

Sponge was soaked just right and the cream light. No pre-orders, not on the menu, only for the event. It was absolutely gorgeous. Pity the media that left without tasting it 😁 #burpple #burpplesg #tiramisu

👍 re-vamped menu at @tfsprivateworks , this favourite has been given a facelift! 😍 #burpple #tfsprivateworks #burpplesg

@jonmarkchu crafts the most excellent cocktails with a limited pantry (so masterchef hor) and the cocktail scene here has been a little dim without him behind the bar. Here, he concocts the "Hakushu Sally", consisting of Hakushu Distillers' Reserve whisky and the silky smooth Prucia plum liqueur. The name of the cocktail is an ode to a song request @jonmarkchu and @yanmahmoud always ask for on Sunday at @walawalasg . The drink is a stunner of sublime complexity and I hope I will get to drink it again soon! #每天happyhour #sgcocktails #japsg #hakushusinglemalt #pruciacocktail #burpple
