uniqueness 10/10 for the waffle plus it was soo yummy! it has a slight chew, was not overly sweet - an unexpected great combi with the crispy waffle! tried the honey chamomile blue pea + osmanthus oolong flavours of the ice cream both were so fragrant and a will-order-again for me!

we tried the rice cake (Nian Gao) waffle and it was interesting! i enjoyed it quite a bit. itโ€™s chewy and I surprisingly liked the taste as I donโ€™t usually like traditional Chinese rice cake. we had it with the butterfly pea and sesame gelato if Iโ€™m not wrong

Nian Gao (a type of "cake" made of glutinous rice flour and mostly eaten during Chinese New Year) is not something I eat outside of the festive period, but the ๐—ก๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—š๐—ฎ๐—ผ ๐—ช๐—ฎ๐—ณ๐—ณ๐—น๐—ฒ from The Better Scoop (formerly known as Just Because Creamery whose first outlet is in Sembawang) is so innovative and delicious I could eat it everyday.

I don't like waffles that are rock-hard and I'm glad that theย  Nian Gao Waffleย was slightly crisp on the outside and still fluffy inside. Slicing it apart revealed the nian gao in the middle. The sticky nian gao was very stretchy, and for those who are crazy about cheese pulls, the nian gao pull works equally well.ย

The scoop of ๐—•๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—น๐—ฒ๐˜†๐˜€ ๐——๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ธ ๐—–๐—ต๐—ผ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ ๐—–๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ฝ was divine, and complemented the waffle brilliantly. The alcoholic punch was tempered somewhat by the rich chocolatey infusion and the combination of flavours was outstanding. I'd definitely return to @thebetterscoop for its other innovative ice-cream flavours.

๐Ÿ˜€ whaaaat?!?! this is a pipagao flavoured ice cream with mint (chopped mint leaves). it has a more sticky/gelato-ey texture, reminiscent of the real syrup itself.
(+) it was quite refreshing and not overly sweet.

you really get what you expect. i guess itโ€™s special / worth a try just for the novelty and if you really! love! pipagao. texture preference is up to your tastebuds. might try other flavours instead next time esp the niangao waffle!!!!! as far as ppg flavoured items go, personally recommend: woobee pipagao milk tea w herbal jelly.

$4.70 for this. usual flavours are 4.20, +0.5 for this flavour.

It's been awhile since this little Ice Creamery located next to NEX shopping center has opened and I have seen the snaking queues especially at night. However I'm not fond of Ice Cream, so I didn't drop by to try until I realised they had the Nian Gao Waffle! As a huge fan of Nian Gao (especially when it's cooked), it sounded pretty amazing to me.

The Nian Gao Waffle ($6.80) with Sea Salt Gula Melaka Ice Cream ($4.20) I ordered is an absolutely divine combination, especially if you love sweet-savory! The salty Ice Cream provides a delicate contrast to the sweetness of the Nian Gao Waffles, leaving me wanting more; and like I said, I don't even like Ice Cream! But this was such a good combination.

To be honest I actually expected the Nian Gao Waffle to be infused in the batter, but it was more like waffle baked with slices of Nian Gao in it. The waffles were more fluffy and light, and nevertheless an ingenious combination. I do like it very much and would return again perhaps at a less crowded time on a weekday afternoon!

Yummy chewy nian gao waffle - just the right amount of sweetness.
Tie Guan Yin ice cream complements the waffle more than chrysanthemum goji ice cream, but the ice cream itself taste good. Worth a try!
