Portions are big, so it’s for sharing. Flavours were deep and tasty with umami for the Buah Keluak dish (Chicken). Curry vegetables had egg plants, lady fingers, carrots and cabbage. Would prefer to have potatoes and more spice. When you order the rice at additional $2.80, comes with free flow rice, achar and sambal chili! Also their durian chendol ($7) was fragrant. Would recommend to people who likes to try peranakan food.

Second meal out last weekend since the easing of P3HA, at one of my favorite place! This is the first time we’ve dined in here (been ordering delivery the past few times) and I think it travels quite well.

Decided to try Bakwan Kepiting ($7) which was a simple soup with minced meat/crabmeat meatballs - while the soup was comforting, I wasn’t a fan of the meatballs as the porky taste was pretty strong. Also ordered Gado Gado ($12), Otak Otak (a tad pricey at $4 a piece); and tried the curry vegetables - which I absolutely loved! Lemak and not overly spicy for that right amount of enjoyment. And of course we had to get the Ayam Panggang “Blue Ginger”. We also had Beef Rendang and Sotong Keluak to go - was damn good too! 😋

Tender, mild smokiness and flavourfully marinated with a medley of spices. Definitely one of my favorites from TBG.

Ayam buah keluak ($24) - the buah keluak pieces were pretty big and stewed well but the sauce lacked depth. Chicken could have been more tender

Overall ⭐️ 3.5/5 ⭐️
🍴Blue Ginger opened their second outlet at Great World City and we thought to give it a try since there was 1-1 burpple vouchers (applicable for vegetables, meats, and starters). Overall, we thought that the dishes were a little oily and all the meats (chicken, pork, beef) were quite tough and chewy, but the sauces were decently good. Dark horse of the meal was the free flow tangy achar!

If we had to rank the proteins, we would say: first, the babi pongtay with its savoury yet slightly sweet and overall moreish sauce. Second, the buah keluak pieces were pretty big and stewed well, although the sauce lacked depth. The beef rendang was the least impressive - the sauce was quite lemak, particularly oily, and could do with punchier spices for added complexity.

The chap chye was soft and flavoursome enough - pretty good rendition as a compliment to the other dishes.

Buah Keluak Fried Rice ($15++): A black beauty 🖤, this plate of fragrant rice 🍚 tossed in an umami, earthy buah keluak rempah 😋 & chicken chunks 🍗 was super yummy! Topped with a garnish of cashews & fried shallots for layering textures! 👍🏻
