It was a long wait but all worth it! Both The Breakfast Burger and The Grilled Cheese Sandwich were superb!!!!
The eggs were fluffy and soft. Buns were buttery and well toasted. What more can you ask for? I give it 10 stars out of 5!!!
As for their mains and pasta, the Crabmeat Tagliatelle ($26) was a hearty option that could certainly do with more salmon roe. To be tossed with garlic, lemon butter sauce, herbed breadcrumbs, and chunky crabmeat, the pasta was cooked to al dente perfection. The briny-sweetness of the crustacean matching fairly well with the light, buttery sauce. A little pricey in my opinion but I did feel better seeing the generous amount of crabmeat. The seasoning was also done well here.
Situated at The Yards in Joo Chiat, The Brewing Ground may be my new favourite spot for some solid cafe staples! Off their brunch menu, the Breakfast Burger ($20) was a winning combination of pork sausage patty, scrambled eggs, caramelized onions, melted cheddar, ketchup-mayo, and brioche buns. Perhaps a little heavy in its seasoning for some, the patty’s flavours were just right for me and I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that it wasn’t too lean or fat. The savouriness of the sausage working harmoniously with the soft silken egg and tangy-sweet mayo as well. Served with a crisp hash brown and a side of mesclun salad with a refreshingly punchy dressing, the burger was the perfect breakfast comfort food.
I need a bacon cheese burger and hold the lettuce don't be frontin son, no seeds on the bun. Buttery brioche buns, juicy house blend beef patty, thicc-ass bacon, caramelised onions, tomato, cheddar and ketchup-mayo, oh hello.
Taste: 3.5/5
Brunch is where this cafe really shines, but sweets are probably not their strong suit here, as this was dry, mealy and too thick. The menu would be better off without the three token desserts, the others of which were a chocolate lava cake and waffles if memory serves me right.
