More Reviews of good food at The Chop House (VivoCity)

We patronized the I12 Katong branch and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience there.

The service was impeccable and the staff kept swinging by to ask us if we were satisfied with the food and if we needed more condiments.

The food was delightful, albeit the Mac N Cheese was only the oilier side - but hey, who eats healthy Mac N Cheese anyway.

We also had the Patty Melt Burger that was not pictured, which was great and the patty was well seasoned without being overwhelmingly salty. But the caramelised onions on the burger was the ace of the plate - the best I’ve had in a long while.

Overall, highly recommended!

Two chunky pieces of crispy beer battered red snapper in a crispy beer batter, served with French fries, malt vinegar and tartar sauce. Fish was well-battered and fried, so they were actually crispy even after being left out for a while, and not oily. The red snapper is soft and flaky, and the natural sweetness of the fish still stands out. Always love the combination of battered fish and malt vinegar, and the offerings here at The Chop House are good too despite them being a steakhouse. I didn’t enjoy the fries served with this or any of the other dishes. They weren’t crispy enough, nor were they seasoned with enough salt or spices. They were bland and lacklustre - save your stomach space for the coconut brioche dessert instead!

One of the recommended desserts at The Chop House - apple strudel stuffed with seasoned apples and pastry cream, served with vanilla ice cream, custard crepe anglaise, and topped with chopped pistachios. Unlike the recommended coconut brioche dessert, this was completely underwhelming. The pastry was thick and cold, plus no knifes were provided so cutting it was a challenge using the limited spoons given to our table. The filling spewed out of the pastry. Overall I felt the pastry tasted too doughy and not flaky enough, while the filling was too sweet (although it makes sense since you’re supposed to eat it together to balance the sweetness with the pastry). I didn’t enjoy this dessert at all and wouldn’t order it again - the coconut brioche is so much better.

The Coconut Brioche Toast is one of the recommended items on The Chop House menu and it definitely deserves some love. For $8, you’re served a warm oven-baked brioche with coconut cream and vanilla accompanied by a scoop of coconut sorbet and pistachios.

This was my favourite part of our meal here. The brioche was warm and crisp on the outside, yet moist and soft on the inside. The coconut cream and vanilla made the already-yummy brioche even more delicious, and I loved the coconut sorbet pairing with pistachios that added a refreshing coolness to the warm bread and some crunchy nuttiness for some reprieve from the creamy sweetness. I think this dessert was well worth the $8 and would order this again!

We were taken aback by how large this dessert was as we certainly weren’t expecting two slices of brownies with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Despite our initial excitement, we were disappointed by how absurdly sweet the brownie was. Coupled with the chocolate sauce, I couldn’t stomach more than two mouthfuls of this decadent dessert. It’s a pity, because the texture of this brownie was quite delightful and dense. The vanilla ice cream also did little to mute the sweetness of the brownies. While the portion is value-for-money at such a restaurant, I wouldn’t recommend wasting calories on this unless you have an extreme sweet tooth.

Food is delicious the quesadillas, bangers and mash, carbonara were good.
but do not order their desserts or ice cream, totally horrible.

Cooked to perfection. The first bite of the succulent flesh provides you with a sense of satisfaction and then you just dive in 🤤. Even the steamed potatoes were a dig for the taste buds. Its served with green apple, fennel and rocket salad, baby beetroots and lemon.

May this {Big Breakfast} be your motivation! This plate consisting of two pancakes, two fried eggs, bacon, kurobuta pork sausage, mushrooms and baby spinach is definitely a hearty one for the ravenous!

This is served with watercress, tomatoes, and a choice of bearnaise, red wine or black peppercorn sauce.

Ribeye is my favourite part of the beef, because of the layer of fats that it has. This USDA Prime premium cut is grilled to a medium rare, juices all retained, and is decent.

I've tried three desserts here, and I highly recommend this Bailey's Cheesecake. It's creamy without being overly rich, so that it's soft to the fork. That hint of coffee and alcohol was subtle but so alluring!

We were all surprised by this lamb, because it wasn't gamey at all. The true test was my wife who don't like mutton, tasted it and told me, "there's zero 羊骚味 (game smell) in this". I was told by the GM that this is because of the special breed of lamb, called Dorper, that's used. We loved this.

This was also served with ratatouille, watercress and red wine sauce. This is taken during a tasting.

I like how well the light and refreshing burrata went with the tomatoes.
🔸
As with most burrata, it's more milky than cheesy, yet it has the sticky cheese creamy texture which I love.. look at that cheese pull here! I recommend eating the cheese with vine ripened tomato salad and basil pesto, as they go very well together - the tomatoes weren't too sour, while the basil pesto lifted the cheese with a refreshing zest.

Thank you The Chophouse for inviting me to this tasting, and General Manager Deepak for hosting me.

I haven't had a bad meal yet at The Chop House and their 2-course weekday set lunch makes it especially value for money.

Their mains are always on the large side, and I was struggling to finish my al-dente tagliatelle in a pool of fragrant basil and cherry tomato cream sauce, in spite of how delicious it was. Not helping was the generous amount of crumbled spiced lamb merguez sausage either. Not that I'm actually complaining.

The food here is delicious! Living in the UK, I find it hard to find truly good western food around Singapore but this made me feel at home. Pork sausages with mash potatoes, topped with caramelised onions! You can get their set lunches with an appetiser and main course for 16++ which is very reasonable. I would highly recommend a visit just for something different, great service in there as well 👍🏼

I've been disappointed one too many times by lacklustre beef nachos but this diminutive bowl is big on flavour. Piping hot straight from the oven, crisp and warm tortilla chips are topped with jalapeno, ground beef, guacamole, melted cheddar cheese, salsa and sour cream. Quality ingredients make all the difference.

Choose from among 3 appetizers of the day including this Mexican beauty, and a main course for Chop House's daily set lunches starting from $17++.

If you're ever in Harbourfront on a weekday and are wondering what to have for lunch, don't overlook The Chop House's surprisingly quality value-for-money set lunches.

My main course of filet mignon salad was the perfect office power lunch -- big on taste, healthy yet satisfying, and guaranteed not to induce the dreaded mid-afternoon post-lunch food coma.

Pan-seared to a perfect, blushing medium-rare, the slices of meat were tender and juicy, whilst below, crunchy romaine, arugula, baby spinach, shaved fennel and cherry tomatoes lightly dressed in aioli are sure to assuage your inner clean-eating health freak. What elevates the vegetables from mere boring rabbit food to something you'll happily come back for more though, are the addition of soft, sweet and piquant slivers of roast peppers.

Was intrigued by their mention of mild curry in the dish description - yes it's there, and yes it's a nice touch. More attention to charring would be a nice touch too, though.

Definitely the best lamb chops I've ever eaten. Succulent and tasty with sauce to match. Truly a dish to try. Yummy yummy yum yum yum. Posted by Ah Leong San 2016 September 26

Instantly sold on the smooth undulating dune of creamy mash that's just begging for brown sauce, but I had to settle for a passable onion and red wine sauce instead.

On the bright side, the pork and honey sausages were ahem, bang on the money, being juicy, chunky and full of sweet porky flavour.
