$16. Love banana desserts especially if it’s chocolate and banana, but the chocolate sauce and honey for this particular French Toast didn’t quite go as expected (not so yummy). Fruits seem less ripen and adds a little tingle of off-sourness. The protagonist Toast was quite “meh”. Maybe they could beef up the food quality here a little...
We enjoyed the refreshing fish tacos ($23) with a zingy mango salsa complemented by tasty curly fries. While the truffle scrambled eggs and parma ham were pleasant, the Academics Breakfast ($25) was disappointing as the bread was hard (with butter and jam provided only upon request), beans tasted like it came out of a can and the sausage was tough with too little fat. Overall we find that this restaurant is worth it with Burpple Beyond but it would be too pricey otherwise.
Overall a decent plate of pasta with a local twist. Chilli crab sauce had a well balanced consistency with a tinge of spiciness. However I felt that the “twisted” pasta they used was a poor pairing... it was too soft with an almost “thick beehoon” kind of texture, which kind of made the overall tasting experience very normal. Would have preferred to change to other pasta options, perhaps linguine?Used the 1-for-1, otherwise if it were to cost $24, I don’t think it’s that worth.
