(8/10) Relatively quiet and relaxing corner for a cafe located in town. Went there on a weekend and manage to get a seat without reservation 👍🏼 many were there for tea-break, I think. Food portion was good but on the pricey end.

Ordered food:
Academic’s Breakfast (Yummy with burpple 1-1 bfast deal)
Salmon and Hash (like rosti + salmon, worth a try!)
Umami Sweet potato fries (crispy and not oily, but umami sauce was a little funky)
Jasmine and chia seed tea (interesting and refreshing twist)

we got the crispy fish tacos and 3-meat pizza! the tacos had mango salsa which is ok but our mangos were a little sour. would’ve preferred if the shell was soggier too. the tacos alone weren’t rly filling bc the fish pieces r so small but if u eat with the fries and veggies it should be enough. the fries are goooood!! crispy n warm. the pizza was not bad too- v flavourful with the different meats + the cheese had a deep richness to it which wasn’t too overwhelming either

The pancakes are as fluffy as they look. Soft and eggy, they pair really well with the lemon maple syrup, homemade berry compote and fresh whipped cream. The only complaint we have is that there needs to be more of the berry compote and whipped cream. They were gone before we were starting on the third piece! Priced at $19.50, this is part of their all day breakfast menu but we think that this can be a dessert as well. Recommend to share this with another as it can get quite filling after a while.

Since we are paying a visit to The Coffee Academics, of course we had to give their unique coffees a try. The pepper agave item caught our eye and it is basically a standard latte, topped with agave nectar and ground black pepper on top. The black pepper was the most unique part of the drink as we have never tasted anything like it before - pretty interesting although others may have different views. While there is supposed to be agave nectar in the drink, the sweetness of the nectar was completely overpowered by the spiciness of the black pepper.

However, we forgot to mix the drink properly and as a result, most of the black pepper remained at the surface. Consequently, we finished most of the black pepper at the start and the remainder of the drink tasted like a normal latte. Don't make the same mistake and mix your drink thoroughly before drinking it! Otherwise, it's a pretty interesting concoction that you can get at $6.40++!

We visited The Coffee Academics for breakfast today and decided to go with pancakes for breakfast! First, we got the Academics' savoury pancakes, which comprised two really thick (and filling) pancakes, together with a sunny-side-up, bacon, a bratwurst sausage and baked beans. To go with the pancakes, the cafe provided maple syrup and berry compote.

First off, we thought that it was a pretty strange combination, since the maple syrup goes well with the pancakes but it doesn really go well with any other item on the plate. Same goes for the berry compote as well. Just to highlight, the pancakes are also not of the usual fluffy variety that we are used to in dessert pancakes - these pancakes are thick and can get pretty dry after a while. Hence, you may want to share them with someone else if you are unsure whether this is the right dish for you. It isn't for us though, and we are looking forward to try the other items on the menu.

Do use your Burpple Beyond vouchers if you have it, although both your items need to be from the All-Day-Breakfast section or the Big Bites section. Otherwise, the $22++ for this dish may be a tad expensive and not really worth it.

Salmon was tender and flavourful, while the broccoli was juicy and well-charred. Food was however, on the pricier side.
