Welcome drinks were offered upon ordering. It was quite a pleasant drink, slightly fizzy and sweet.
Ordered a Medium steak and it was fairly well seasoned! However, it can be a bit pricey considering the portion.
Overall, quite a chill place to be.
Delicious cafe food, although I got to say the prices are steep and it is definitely not the best you can get out there! The fish and chips were fresh and juicy, and the batter was crisp and not overly thick - really love it! Salmon was grilled to perfection with mentai mayo that was lightly charred! Salmon was fresh and there was no fishy smell! The iced white was great although not spectacular and their basque burnt cheesecake was quite a thick slab I got to say for $10 I would say its not bad! Total damage was approximately $75 rounded up and I got to say it is definitely expensive but it is like your standard cafรฉs but with a wider range of food (ie arent limited to brunch options!)
For dessert, we had @thecommunalplace's Tiramisu ($13++) but would say that this is more of a Tiramisu-inspired dessert? ๐คฃ Overloaded with foamy whipped cream, there was too little sponged finger (& they don't seem to be soaked with coffee? ๐คจ) & mascarpone cheese imo. Thankfully, the mixed berries ๐๐ซ & crushed nuts (pistachio & walnut) were the saving grace by added more textures & flavours.
Meat lovers can go for their St. Louis Pork Ribs ($28++/half slab) ๐, served with side salad ๐ฅ. The ribs were well-marinated with the hickory BBQ sauce - so flavourful. ๐ Wanted to try their Porter House Steak but it was sold out - maybe next time!
Another ๐๏ธ item on @thecommunalplace's menu is their Fish Taco ($14++)! Featuring beer-battered dory ๐ atop a bed of chipotle coleslaw ๐, chipotle mayo & salsa, this tortilla makes a nice little sharing plate.
Great lunch hangout spot with pretty interior! I had the spicy scallop aglo for mains which I would recommend to those who love a mild spicy kick to their pasta! To end off, I also tried the basque burnt cheesecake which was delicious and creamy. Overall, great service with attentive and prompt servers. Would definitely pay another visit if I'm in the area!
