The Cupping Room (Sheung Wan)

29 Wishlisted
Opened by Dereck Chui, runner-up of the HK Barista Championship 2011, it's worth the walk to The Cupping Room. Often packed with people despite the long walk in, be sure to go early! With beans specially sourced across the globe and roasted for that special taste, you know you are in for some kickass coffee.

Fully packed with locals and tourists (like us). So we had no choice but to squeeze in front of the counter seats. .

The coffee was not as good as expected and this Benedict was below expectation. The hollandaise sauce had the right thick texture but lacked of flavors. Even with the sliced zesty fruits, they didn't helped to complement the sauce. .

After some research, we found out that the main crew and boss had moved to another branch a few streets down. Their new outlet had much bigger seating capacity and the food there was more promising.

Smooth drawn latte with a fine heart. Sadly the bean was too "fresh" causing the latte to oxidized too quickly.

5 munchies: Thick-cut, buttered sourdough toast topped with house-cured salmon, cucumbers, leaves, radish, pickled onions, and poached egg. Every mouthful was a burst of freshness – I absolutely loved the chunky salmon slices and contrast of flavours from the pickled onions. I'd also highly recommend to add on the meaty portobello mushroom for more juice and texture. The coffee served here is also one of the very best in Hong Kong!

A hybrid between croissant and muffin with generous amount of greek yogurt stuffing to go with a cuppa latte.
.
Extremely flaky with a subtle butter fragrance.

4.5 munchies: This is what I call a good cup of espresso white from roasted to order specialty beans.
