The Dragon Chamber

200 Wishlisted
The Dragon Chamber is a speakeasy style restaurant and bar. What may look like a regular beer fridge in a kopitiam is actually a secret door that opens up into its own inner recesses. Reminiscent of Chinatown gambling dens and secret society hangouts, the walls of Dragon Chamber are covered with artwork from local and regional artists such as Sabotage, Mister Tucks and Riandy Karuniawan, referencing past and recent Chinese tradition from a globalist, counter-culture point of view. Dragon Chamber offers an unconventional menu serving “guerilla style” food, representing dishes that are not typical banquet style Chinese food. Among its own wild concoctions from Dragon Chamber’s test kitchen, the underground restaurant also brings back age-old Chinese dishes that never caught on in mainstream restaurants, because of unconventional ingredients. Yet the flavors are immense. Contrasting lovable Chinese-American recipes, Dragon Chamber pushes the diner’s comfort zone with adventurous dishes that may even shock diners with unusual Chinese techniques of nose-to-tail animal preparation.

Rather pricey bento boxes, but something you probably can't find elsewhere. For the meats you have a few options and I went for the firecracker chicken. This was super crispy and tongue-numbing (mala). Loved the cashews in it. The kale was great as I've never tried it stir fried this way. Comes with a soup and a drink of choice.

Have been wanting to try this place but could never get enough people to go for dinner together. Really like the idea of lunch set where I can get a balance amount of veggie, meat, fruits and soup. Firecracker chicken was nicely done - crispy chicken chunks with a tinge of numb sensation. My only gripe was too many cashews (i know this is such a good problem right). Other than that, I also love the stiry fry kale with garlic.Didn’t know that adding lemon juice to help elevate the flavour of the kale. Price is rather steep for regular visits.

Deep fried diced chicken with chopped dried chillies, cashews, chives and Sichuan peppercorn served with crunchy “you tiao” fritters topped with maple syrup

Dish is essentially 辣子鸡 (小辣) - quite comparable to those you get in Sichuan restaurants! Maple fritters were sticky and slightly hard/doughy - perhaps unnecessary for this dish.

‘Hor Fun’ wok fried flat noodles served with premium A4 Kagoshima Wagyu, crispy deep-fried hor fun strips, poached egg and finished with truffle gravy.

Was quite a small portion, but any more might have been too much truffle for a meal. Nevertheless, it was a great dish with the contrasting textures between the deep fried horfun strips and normal horfun. Definitely a must-order here - will be back again for this!

Doubled boiled crab broth with a huge dried scallop and shredded crab meat. Nothing special though.

Super crispy and flaky exterior with warm sweet red bean filing oozing out with every bite. Well balanced with the refreshing scoop of salted caramel ice cream. All I can say is - TAKE MY MONEY!
