3.75⭐ Thanks @dayofjt for the hightea treat. 😘 Although the hotel is extravagant, the high tea was slightly above average only. It's the New Orleans theme this month and frankly speaking none of the items are memorable. We are here as there's 1 for 1 Citibank promotion for weekday hightea.

The New York high tea was beautifulđŸ€©đŸ€©

Scones: Plain and raisin
Super fluffy, really well baked, the rose jam and cream cheese paired really well with the scones!

Bottom tier: Smoked salmon cream cheese bagel, Reuben sandwich and lobster on toast
The smoked salmon cream cheese was very light, but felt that the bagel was a bit chewy
The Reuben sandwich was so good, my favourite out of the 3! The sauerkraut cut through the sweetness of the roast beef and the cheese was so good!! The sourdough was toasted really well and altogether it was splendid!
The lobster roll was very refreshing, a buttery brioche topped with lobster mixed with mayonnaise.

Second tier: New York cheesecake, Red velvet, carrot cake
The New York cheesecake was very light, though the sable still the bottom was a bit soggy, but still my favourite out of the 3! The decoration was really pretty with fruits and icing flowers!
Red velvet was paired with cream cheese. It was really moist and not sweet at all!!
Carrot cake the cream cheese paired really well with the carrot cake and there were walnuts in the carrot cake which brought a different texture which was really pleasant! There was also a small carrot made out of marzipan which I found absolutely adorable!

Third tier: Brownie, Apple crumble
The brownie was really fudgy but I felt it didn’t really pair well with the chocolate cream on top of it, felt that the brownie was better on its own! The brownie had Walnuts incorporated inside and it brought a crunch to it which was really nice
The Apple crumble was my moms favourite! I personally found the tart to be soggy, perhaps it was left outside too Long? And I felt there wasn’t enough crumble, but one good thing about this crumble is that the Apple was really tart that cut through the sweetness of the tart shell!

This peanut looking tart is hazelnut, one of our favourites from the three-tier Afternoon Tea at the revamped Grand Lobby of @RafflesHotelSingapore. Love the realistically looking nuts atop the tart, an nostalgic inspiration from the days where diners dispose of their peanut shells on the floor in Long Bar. The texture of the deceiving looking peanut is soft as it is simply hazelnut-flavoured cream.

What you see on the surface, sometimes is not reflective of reality; applies to people as well.

H O S T E D
The Grand Old Dame is looking splendid after almost two years of restoration works. And she has started to roll out unique dining experiences that only she is capable of offering, such as the eternally elegant “Raffles Afternoon Tea” which can be partaken in the main lobby of this legendary hotel.
Although it heaves with classic Englishness appearance-wise, the food, apart from the scones which are escorted by clotted cream and a strawberry and rose petal jam, is a little less straightforward. And I really like that about it.
Executive Pastry Chef @chienlin_tai and his team have put together three tiers of scrumptiousness that include mini sandwiches formed from cottony-soft housemade bread in assorted flavours, coupled with delicious fillings. Proving most popular with those present yesterday were the chicken mayo in mixed grain and the crab in curry bread.
The middle tier’s strawberry yogurt cake and the crunchy peanut bar (an inspired take on Raffles Hotel’s iconic Long Bar’s famous peanut shell-strewn floor) were very good but for me, it was the pistachio mousse and pistachio chocolate in choux puff pastry that reigned supreme.
Sitting pretty on the top: a fruit and nut loaf and a refreshing coconut panna cotta with passionfruit and mango. I liked them a lot as well.
Available daily between 12noon and 6pm, the “Raffles Afternoon Tea” is priced at $68++ per pax and includes a beverage of your choice. Champagne is also offered with a top-up. Granted this tea set is not cheap but if you desire whiling away an afternoon over tastefully done food and drinks in a beautiful iconic venue, this would suit you to a “Tea”.

Checked out the two weeks old Raffles Afternoon Tea concept at The Grand Lobby this afternoon, a three-tier affair along with scones, a choice of tea and optional @Champagne_Billecart_Salmon to go along. It’s quality over quantity, and suffice to say, this is definitely one of the best afternoon tea experiences in Singapore for us so far.

The Raffles Afternoon Tea is available daily from 12pm to 6pm at $68++ per person.
