Perhaps you might be having second thoughts about trying this black-looking fish and chips but wait, don’t judge a dish by its appearance. The charcoal fish and chips is a specialty at The Pipe District. There’s a choice of dory or salmon, priced differently.

Coated with a crispy charcoal batter, the dory fish was tender and pretty fresh, and had no signs of being overcooked. While the looks of the charcoal batter was daunting, it tasted just like a usual better, not strong on the earthiness or any smokiness that the charcoal powder added could have imparted. Surprisingly it wasn’t very oily too. Each set comes with a side of coleslaw and a choice of straight cut fries or sweet potato fries. Love the tinge of sweetness from the sweet potato amidst the savoury!

A good fusion mix of pork ribs and spaghetti. Pork ribs were really really tender (again, fall of the bone tender!) and doused a generous, flavoursome BBQ sauce. Location of the cafe is pretty off and inaccessible without a car but for the reasonably priced food and pretty interior of the cafe, it’s still worth a visit!

Stumbled upon this quaint eatery in science park 2. I am really impressed with the freshness of the fish. The charcoal batter interestingly provides the crisp fried layer. This comes with coleslaw and sweet potato fries.

This has got to be my ultimate fav from pipe district!

I love how the wings are perfectly fried yet incredibly juicy. I would think that normally the salted egg would end up overpowering the chicken but it isn’t the case for this.

For just $10 for 6 pieces would say this is quite worth its value and would definitely recommend this.

One of the best ‘ulu’ place to enjoy your peaceful evening. Hidden within science park, serving great thin crust pizza, variations of fried chicken wings, charcoal fish and chips, and more!

The clam chowder was gooooood, esp for its price at just $3!

The charcoal salmon was dry and did not taste any special. Thankfully the sweet potato fries made up for the imperfection!! Also enjoyed their coleslaw which include olives and dried cranberries!

Not featured in this picture was the creamy mushroom linguine with pork ribs. Another great dish by the chef 👍 pork ribs was soft and tender, the pasta was full of mushroom and taste on point.
