They see me rollin’ they’re not hatin’ cos this roll was SUPERB. The texture of this roll was practically cloud-like and it was perfumed with the fragrant earl grey tea (speckled with some tea leaves too)! I’m such a sucker for swiss rolls and Cafe Plain Jane does them so so well! Wanna come back for their Thai Tea Roll as well!!!

Verdict: 9.5/10

Sorry for the badly taken photo I was hungry. This is the Swiss roll in black forest flavour. Taste wise, the chocolate filling is smooth and generous. The cake is soft. I love the surprise burst of cherry inside. I wish there were more cherries inside to contrast against the chocolate filling it would be great. The price is abit expensive. I think it cost about $7.90. To be fair the ambience would be great bec the deco looks nice and the staff are friendly but there is no dining in so I couldn't experience it.

Got the set with coffee (beyond 1-4-1 deal). Liked the earl grey much more than the ispahan, as the cream and sponge were quite like light and fragrant. The sponge for ispahan was drier and kinda separated from the cream.

The coffee was great! Smooth, pleasant and well balanced with a strong coffee taste. The default for all cups is a double shot. We really enjoyed their coffee :)

Not too much matcha taste as I’d expected but it’s not too sweet so that’s great too!

Traveling to Serangoon to try out the Swiss Rolls by @cafeplainjane was worth the calories! We had a feast with the various rolls available on the day.

Ispahan with Lychee Jelly
Earl Grey
Dirty Chai
Matcha Latte

Our top favorite was the Ispahan with Lychee Jelly that had a lovely subtle blend of rose flavor. The sponge cake was light and airy.

If Earl Grey is your favorite tea blend, you may enjoy their Earl Grey Swiss Roll. We felt that the sponge cake was not as light and airy as the others but the citrusy filling was really rich!

Overall, it was a lovely afternoon with delicious cakes and hot drinks!

Ordered the matcha and earl grey rolls and of the two, I definitely recommend the latter! The cake is not as soft and pillowy as you’d expect from a Swiss roll, but the filling was really rich and flavourful! Not too sweet either which I appreciate!
