I was surprised at the generous portion of this dish. There was 2 thick slabs of fish stacked on a big dollop of creamy potatoes. The fish was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This dish is a real value for money!

Overall the dish was rich in flavour and the pasta was cooked just a little more than Al dente, which is my preference. I appreciated that they were quite generous with the meat, the sauce and the cheese. Its definitely a dish I would come back for!!

Nutty and just slightly acidic, the flat white here is full bodied and richly flavoured. I got the 8oz double shot ($6+), which provided a strong kick of caffeine! The milk was well steamed and smooth. All in all a really enjoyable cup of coffee, living up to its namesake :-)

Had high expectations for this item ($24+), which comes highly recommended. The base was an interesting medley of textures and flavours as it comprised a variety of grains, such as quinoa/ barley/ wheat. The wagyu itself was rather disappointing - it was dry and lacking flavour. Thankfully, the zucchini, tomatoes, mushroom and furikake added dimension to the dish.

Served with chunky mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables and kale, the slow cooked beef cheek ($24+) was tender. The meat itself was very flavourful and paired well with the brown sauce. The breadcrumbs helped to give some texture to the meal!

Populus has two lunch sets to choose from! This is the beef ramen ($22+), with thin noodles similar to u-mian. The “Asian sauce” had a tinge of oyster sauce and vinegar! The braised beef was tender and fell apart easily, and was extremely flavourful. Interestingly, the wanton was filled with bacon and mushroom! It sure is a twist from the usual local fare. The set meal is particularly worthwhile as you get your choice of coffee (+$1 for ice, some exclusions) :-)
