Expresso Roll ($4.50)
Can’t resist a cream filled swiss roll @thepound_sg . Pity the earl grey was out so opted for the expresso. Soft pillowy sponge and not too sweet cream filling, really not bad imo except the expresso flavour could have been stronger. Latte ($5.50) was milky and not too acidic.

The Pound closes early so I took the cake away for my parents to have a taste. And they love it a lot! The big slice is really satisfying; the sponge has a lightness which feels gravity-defying πŸ˜‚ Even the cream too. Everything in this Espresso Swiss Roll has heart in it and blended together so well 😍 I could eat slice after slice.

On a side note, the korean lady boss gave me the red bean biscuit (lunar new year special) as a freebie, when I was just asking and thinking of buying that last piece.... Thank you unnie! XD

The pound has amazingly priced cakes (homebaked!) and drinks ranged $2-$6! I frequent this place for its beautiful teak tables and lovely cakes. Owners are extremely helpful and kind too :)

I just found my current favourite swiss rolls.
They are really delicious. The sponge is soft, cream is so smooth & light, and best of all, they are not overly sweet.
My personal favourite would be this Espresso flavour & the Earl Grey flavour. Love the orange segments inside the earl grey flavour. 😍😍😍
I actually finished both swiss rolls at one go without sharing them. 😌

For those who wanted to try The Pound's Strawberry Roll Cake but had been hesitant because you wanted a Strawberry Shortcake; yes, they have one now. I actually prefer this over the Strawberry Shortcake too; overall very light, fluffy and dense for both the sponge cake layers and the cream, it hints of light sweetness of vanilla and fresh cream with layers of chopped strawberry slices sandwiched within for a little tart flavour within. It's that sort of cake that is great to indulge; very un-sinful, deliciously light and overall very bright and happy to have β€” something that really helps to life up one's mood for the day!

Opened by two Korean sisters, this cosy cafe in Jalan Sultan serves only two things β€” homemade cakes and coffee. The Swiss rolls are the speciality, but come early as there are only six rolls available daily β€” try the Strawberry Roll Cake ($4.50), which sees fresh cream and a strawberry wrapped within a light, airy vanilla sponge. Unlike the other Swiss roll specialist Rich & Good nearby, The Pound also serves up other excellent cakes like the Fig Pound Cake ($4), which is moist, loaded with dried fruit and absolutely worth your money. We also like that there are seats for patrons to slowly savour the cakes on-site. Wash it all down with a well-brewed Americano ($3).
Avg price: $10 per person
