Proclaimed to have the best scones, they had 3 options to choose from today: original, sultana and pumpkin. Most people come here for the set, most popular one being the Devonshire set: which consists of scones, double thick cream and a choice of gourmet Australian made jam and a choice of beverage from the menu for $15/pax. They have a jam sampler for 2 ($38/Set) if you would like to sample more types of jams (choose 4).

I got the original and the pumpkin one to go. Pretty disappointed that the pumpkin taste is so faint and the scone tasted more neutral than savory. On the other hand, the original one felt more like a biscuit than the dense buttery kinda scone that I’m used to. Maybe because it was freshly baked and served hot, the texture was way more fluffy than i would have liked it to be. I guess I prefer the more compact texture where I could apply jam and it would not crumble and stay intact.

Saving grace is that they have ALOT of jams to choose from. I got the fig & ginger one. ($1.50 each). Loved the fig bits to chew on! So some of the more interesting jams are:
triple berry
rhubarb, raspberry & vanilla
pear & vanilla
pawpaw, lime & passionfruit

If you needed a rest for your feet or a bite somewhere comfortable, this would be recommended especially for a soothing cup of hot tea in the cold weather. And they served really tasty fresh-baked scones with some amazing home-made jams and cream. We chose their pear vanilla jam and triple berries jam and both were satisfyingly good with the cream on their scones. If you needed activity while relaxing over the break, you could try knitting too with the threads they have on the tables.
