Had an enjoyable meal at @tipsytavern last night and I must say, I think their food items improved from the last time I went! With a very classy yet intimate atmosphere, this is one place worthy of a good nights out.
The Unagi Don ($24 1-for-1 with #burpplebeyond) was one delicious bowl to savour. The meaty charred unagi was on top of a bed of scrambled eggs that was a delight. The scrambled eggs were very fluffy and seasoned with unagi sauce (I believe) and the sweet and savoury flavours went so well together! The unagi piece was quite sizable and meaty, perfect with the rice below.
The Mentaiko Salmon Don ($28 1-for-1 with #burpplebeyond) was decent, with loads of mentaiko sauce. The mentaiko sauce was very rich, perfect with the crunchy ebiko and ikura eggs. I feel like this bowl can be abit too heavy, maybe better for sharing!
The Strawberry Frozen Magarita is $10 all night, and I think is a great starter to the night. There was some spiced salt at the side of the glass which was a great accompaniment to the sweet drink! Like that it's quite strong as well.
Will be back to try their cocktails next time!
ebi pasta and mentaiko don!
My friends and I used one 1-for1 mains burpple deal to order the Mentaiko Salmon Don ($28), Wagyu Don ($32) and Garlic Miso Pasta ($20). We enjoyed all 3 mains! We also ordered Classic Lime and Mango Margaritas ($10 each) - Mango was not bad but we liked Classic Lime more. We reserved a table on a Friday night and got to sit at a booth indoors and enjoy the nice ambience. Overall, this spot was a nice burpple find :-)
Hei-Bi Pasta ($22) features al dente linguine cooked in a spicy dried shrimp sauce that is packed with unami. The βkelongβ tiger prawns are big, fresh and meaty. Topped with onsen egg and ikura, this is one addictive pasta that I canβt get enough of.
Butadon ($22) comes with torched pork belly, onsen egg and ikura on top of Japanese rice and it is so good! The thinly sliced pork belly has a good balance of sweet and savoury notes and it is torched to smokey perfection. The runny onsen egg wraps up everything and each mouthful is a delight.
decided to try out this quaint roadside restaurant/bar-ish place for dinner & was pleasantly surprised with the generosity of their fish portions! got the bara chirashi don ($28+) and mentaiko salmon don ($28+). fish was fresh - salmon was creamy and tuna didn't have the iron/blood taste. would be back again to try their $10 magheritas and $18 happy hour tiramisu cocktails next round !!! vv worth with the 1-1. 8/10!!!
π we also ordered curly fries on the side but unfortunately that was a miss :-(
