Charcoal-Grilled, Sliced US Beef Shortrib in Tanuki Raw’s signature Sukiyaki sauce, Truffle soy, Onsen Egg, house-made pickles, Shio Konbu.

Hadn’t actually had anything from Tanuki Raw in a while, but this was pretty satisfying — the beef slices were sliced pretty thin and tender, carrying a slight hint of smokiness whilst perfuming of a truffle aroma; a good portion being served over the a bed of Japanese short-grain rice that is fluffy and sufficiently sticky, drenched with an ample amount of truffle soy for a savoury and earthy note of flavours that makes the rice easy to have. Mixing up the wobbly Onsen Egg into the entire bowl, it gives the rice and the beef slices a silkier texture that also helped to bind the various elements of the dish altogether, while the house-made pickles on the side gives a refreshing crunch with a tang to cut through all that meatiness and carbs to achieve a good balance. A pretty decent eat at Jewel; perhaps a visit to their Orchard Central outlet is due pretty soon considering it had been years since the last visit.

Enjoyed a hearty meal at Tanuki Raw bowls and truffle fries!

The bowls are filled generously with meat and beautiful poach egg at the top, giving your eyes a taste before you start savouring for its flavourful mix of rice and meat. The wasabi bowl especially, taste amazing you just can’t get enough of it. Truffle fries are just as amazing as it has this strong taste that just awakes you from the tiring train ride to the jewels! Come on down to experience great services and food here at Tanuki Raw!

One for one donburis for lunch via some telegram promo. I had the jewel chirashi which had a good mix of seafood. Also tried char siew grilled unagi which was interesting some char siew flavor. The char siew flavor filled more like it was just grazed to the unagi rather than ‘infused’ in it. Not too sure what the restaurant was going for. Either way, a worth it bowl for TGIF lunch!

Salmon belly, aburi salmon, snow crab, ikura and house-made pickles [based on menu]

My favourite is, unexpectedly, the snow crab! Soft and milky texture, it really goes well with the rice seasoned with special blend of furikake and tare.

The salmon is quite fresh and thick, however, I was wondering where’s my aburi salmon! The salmon I got was 3 pieces of salmon sashimi (raw) and another 3 pieces of salmon belly sashimi (raw).

The portion is not as big as I expected, however, it is sufficient to make my tinytummy happy.
