Decent food, hotpot broth was flavorful after putting in all the meat, overall it’s a unique combination of chicken rice pairing w steamboat.
The best on a rainy Sunday evening. Nothing more comforting than this traditional steamboat with Zichar dishes!
This place is famous for its traditional steamboat and chicken rice. The standard set comes with cockles, eggs, fish balls, fish maw, pig liver, prawns, sea cucumber, sliced pork, sliced fish, squid, vegetables and clear chicken soup.
The soup was clear and bland at the start but it will get better after adding and cooking the seafood, meats and vegetables. Individual portions of ingredients are also available for ala-carte order. Don't forget to get their chicken rice to go along with the steamboat.
We arrived past 8pm and they were left with the last few plates of chicken breast meat. Even though I don't really order breast meat because they are usually tough and dry, I am glad that we proceed with our order. The meat was tender and juicy. The rice was equally good without being too oily and comes with a firm bite to each grain, packed with fragrance from the chicken stock and ginger 》$8
Chicken was v slightly grainy and meaty. Not in a bad way. The sauce was v savoury, more than it was sweet. V intense sauce so they were calculated in drizzling it, do ask for more by the side.
Chili was hot
While there’s not much reason to head to Golden Mile, Thien Kee Steamboat has probably crossed paths with your life at some point with friends or family. It is perpetually packed, even if it means bad service and mediocre ingredients. The saving grace is really the Hainanese chicken rice, and if it is a draw, the retro dining vibes in a building stuck in time.
