Michelin worthy fish steamboat

For the taste and portions , this had got to be the best fish steamboat in Singapore .

Was recently at Another fish steamboat place at Whampoa and felt it was a complete rip off - though the soup was good.

I love the generous slices of fresh fish ,fluffy yam , spinach and cabbage that is used here .

Soup is refillable and this on its own makes a hearty meal for two .

You find generous use of “ ti-Po “ a dried flat fish which helps in giving the soup that flavour of the sea and the use of preserved plums to satisfy that Teochew tastebuds is mine .

This place deserves a Michelin .

My default dish to order everytime to spice things up a little bit .

A secret for those of you who want to go easy on your pockets - instead of the sambal toufu prawn - you could order the sambal toufu at a fraction of the prices .

Soft egg toufu in an addictive sambal egg sauce with a lot of umami goodness . The heat level is minimal so if you can’t take spicy food , this is still worth a try :)

The fish portion seems to have shrunk but nevertheless still fresh.

My favourite place for a reliable and affordable good fish steamboat .

You get chunky slices of yam , baby spinach, seaweed and cabbage in your steamboat .

The soup base is just so full of umami from the fried dried sole fish .

And I promise you wont feel thirsty after drinking the soup😊

Service is fast and prompt - dont expect friendly smiles though 🤣

Flavoured with yam, lettuce and spinach for sweetness, the soup is boiled with charcoal and was brimming with chunks of fresh fish!
Although I'm not a huge fan of fish, this steamboat appealed much to me with its flavourful broth and fresh meat!

We also ordered the prawn omelette, hong shao tofu, pork rib, and our ultimate favourite - crispy fried chicken 😍 It was fingerlicking good and left us craving for more!

Although the place was packed with people and it was a crammed dining spot, the quality of the food totally won us over and we left the place with satisfied bellies 😍

You have heard of sambal prawns, sambal stingray , sambal goreng but have you heard of sambal toufu?

Extremely addictive - it’s tastes very much like chilli crab sauce . Each morsel of soft egg toufu is covered and drenched in this sambal egg sauce .

Be prepared to wolf down a huge bowl of rice with this very unique dish .


Tian wai Tian at opal crescent is the only place that I would go for a fresh fish steamboat.

Full of Chunky fresh fish , yam slices , sweet cabbage and baby spinach and a rich underlying flat dry sole fish flavour 😊. And you don’t get thirsty after drinking the soup - this tells very much about how much work has gone into making the soup stock taste so good 🤗

Perfect for a rainy weather .
