Joined the long queue of people with high expectations, but was kinda disappointed. It’s a personal preference but I prefer my char kway teow on the sweeter and wetter side than this version.

It looked a little bit dry for my liking at first but when i took my first mouthful the wok hei flavor rly shines through. I like how the whole dish wasn’t too oily and I could keep going back for more without leaving TOO guilty and make sure you get the $4 so it’s loaded with all the ingredients😛(chinese sausage, egg, fishcake, cockles)

wasn't open on thu when we came but this is definitely worth the wait.. we could taste the flavour of the black sweet sauce and it was packed full of flavour and not oily at all.. there was enough charred flavour without being burnt and enough ingredients and the lap chiong wasn't too fatty and oily.. 5stars!! #burpple #mynewhood #gettingfatwhilewaiting #whilewaitingfortheloml #lomljnck #lomljns

Cravings for #CharKwayTeow satisfied. It doesn't have a very wok hei aroma, however you can probably eat 2-3 plates and won't feel 'jelak' kind because it's not oily but have a wetter texture. They also allow you to have 'pure' kway teow. (Not mixed with yellow noodles). #TiongBahruCharKwayTeow

PRICE: $3.00 (Available in $2/3/4 portions)

VISITED ON: Sat lunch

QUEUE: About 5-7 in line

WAITING TIME: 6 min

NOTES: Wet, old-school style. No visible pork lard. A few tiny cockles, but at least they were not served 'medium rare'. The 88-year owner still mans the shop (takes orders and collects cash) but leaves the cooking to his daughter.

WILL WE RETURN? Likely

one of the very few char kway teow that doesn't taste sweet in SGland you'll agree with me
