- Roasted Duck Rice, $3.50

- Roasted Duck, Pork w Char Siew Rice, $7

It was a shame that Zhong Yu Yuan Wei was closed on Mondays and Fridays, but Lee Hong Kee had put up a worthy competition with their roast meats. How popular it was was simply reflected by the long queue in front of the stall, even before the lunch crowd could swarm in.

Their Char Siew with Roast Pork Rice (S$4.00) came with an option of sauce or no sauce. Obviously, the sauce could add some flavours and moisture to the meats and rice, since it would not come with soup by default. I liked the Char Siew for having a decent proportion of fat and lean meat (not as perfect as the 不见倩 cut but still good enough), but the roast pork was a little disappointing for having a very thin layer of skin, and as a result the crunch was not as β€œshiok” (I preferred Roast Pork with the crackling effect).

The flavours were nice, but I wished I could feel fuller after the meal.

Tiong Bahru Lee Hong Kee Cantonese Roasted #02-60
Roasted Pork Char Siew Rice + Char siew ($6)
- Sauce was sweet and had a slight herbal flavour
- Good char and caramelisation all around the char siew, char siew here is more meaty and leaner compared to other stalls
- Roasted pork here was of higher standards, with the skin providing a really good crunch
- Chili was spicy, and slightly tart complementing the sauce well but not the kind that you want to drench your rice in
Overall, would actually rate this stall as my favourite roast meat stall thus far for its value and leaner cuts offered. Perhaps my only gripe would be that this stall does not serve sambal chili
Price: 8.5/10

A very good rendition. Lots of gravy. Not much to complain except maybe slightly salty. Wish they still had char siew though.

Marinated & roasted to perfection, the fatty/ end parts of the char siew were the yummiest. Springy noodles were coated with pork oil, so fragrant it can be eaten on its own. The mini bowl of soup served alongside was so so sweet we had to get refills. One of the better places in SG to get your roast delight fix. πŸ–

I was really impressed with the crispy skin of the duck with just the right amount of fats 🀀 It's like the next best thing to roast goose in Singapore! Wish my char siew was smoky charred, but it's tender considering the meat is quite lean.
You may need to queue a bit for this, I'm glad I arrived after peak hours 😁
Find them at Unit 60 😊
