Yong Tau Foo (8 piece for $4)- quite a good bowl of yong tau foo with fresh ingredients!

Found this to be a hidden gem at Tiong Bahru market. After trying this and the other more famous Tiong Bahru Fried Kway Teow in the same hawker centre, all of us preferred this.
I could already smell the wok hei as soon as my friend brought us this plate. I agreed with my friend who said, "the wok hei is obscene". To me it's also more than the wok hei. That sweet savoury and mild spicy sauce with all the lup cheong, fish cake, hum, and vegetables - added for its crunchy texture and to break the greasiness - worked harmoniously for me.
Some people like wet char kway teow. But if you like dry char kway teow like I do, you should like this.

Yes - I braved the storms to visit Tiong Bahru Hawker knowing that it would be swarmed with people since we are getting closer to the cny period .

Just to get to one of my favourite breakfast stalls. ...
I like observing how the auntie uses her special scissors to prepare the chee cheong fun and how much concentration and passion she puts in her work πŸ™.

The dried shrimp chee cheong fun with their homemade chilli and sweet sauce is what you need for a simple but satisfying breakfast.
Find the texture of the rolls a little too thick this morning - hopefully it’s a one off 😊

The ginkgo porridge though bland ( the way I like it ) has a creaminess to it an a subtle ginkgo flavour ( but where did all the gingkos go πŸ˜‚?)
