As Tom’s Palette marks their 14th and final anniversary at its original location before the redevelopment of Shaw Tower in mid-2020. They are currently 3 weeks into their month-long celebration and is offering Tie Guan Yin with Coffee Popcorn ice cream from today till tomorrow! This collaboration flavour with local Nano Coffee Roastery, Parchmen & Co hits all the right spots for me. Churned with more than 1 kg of tea leaves originating from Anxi, Fujian China, the tailored ice cream custard is first infused with the Tie Guan Yin for an hour to bring out its fruity and Orchid notes so expect pretty robust flavours. Using a medium roast, it also tasted warm and certainly less flowery in essence. Then adding a wonderful textural experience, we got popcorn coated with white chocolate and hand ground coffee beans in the mix. Having a nutty undertone, the Catimor Coffee Beans was of a fruity varietal from Pu’er in Yunnan and coupled well with the sweetness of the popcorn as well as chocolate. Just perfect for both tea and coffee drinkers in my opinion; the combination was very well-balanced!

Thank you Toms Palette for having us and burpple for the invite!

I’m not at all a coffee person, but this collaboration flavour between Tom’s and Parchmen & Co had a well handled balance! I liked how they retained the natural bitterness of the tie guan yin and didn’t overwhelm it with sweetness. The white chocolate and hand ground coffee beans coated popcorns gave a contrast texture and flavour.

This anniversary flavour is available on 20th and 21st September, as part of Tom’s 14th Anniversary celebration - they’ll also be serving up other brand new flavours and returning fan favourites through the month. Thank you @tomspalettesg for having us and @burpple for the kind invite! ✨

A special collaboration flavour with Gong Cha - vanilla made with Madagascar vanilla beans, topped with oolong tea sauce and konnyaku rose jelly! The scoop was fragrant with a good amount of sweetness. Was fun to have with the chewy bits of konnyaku too.

We were super lucky to get to try the very limited batch of Mao Shan Wang that the Tom’s Palette crew worked really hard in making!! It was freshly churned to lock in as much of the durians’ natural flavour, and that really shone through the final product. Absolutely loved the richness and its creamy texture!

The pipagao ice cream was quite different from expected. They use three legs pipagao which is a more herbal and less sweet version from the nin jiom brand. This had a pronounced herbal flavour indeed and while some of us liked it, some of us didn’t. I thought it was pretty refreshing and different from usual ice cream flavours.

I’m not a fan of durian but don’t mind eating it and I thought this was really good. It was really creamy and I liked the texture as well. It was like eating frozen durian and so much work was put into this too.
