Stopped by after many friends told me I had to compare this to my fav eggtart at Taicheong, and here’s my verdict: I’m still gna be loyal to taicheong 🤪
.
Clearly, this isn’t the most fair comparison: both are good. Tong Heng’s Eggtart (~$1.90) has a more flaky light crust which is perfect for a snack 🤤 while Taicheong’s leans towards crumbly. .
Custard wise, Tong Heng’s was more solid and less wobbly, and could do being served warmer. 🍳 But BOY. This eggtart was GOOD.

💫Tried these famous diamond-shaped egg-tarts. The crust is so crispy, egg custard is a bit sweet, but I enjoyed it. It is soft like tofu, creamy inside of it.

I pass by Tong Heng on my way to work everyday but this is my first time popping in for a post-dinner snack. The signature diamond-shaped egg tart ($1.90) is clearly what most people come to Tong Heng for. The tart is buttery, crisp and thinner than a typical egg tart shell - the delicate balance between firm and crumbly is commendable. The egg custard is soft like tofu, creamy in the middle, fragrant and not too sweet. I could easily pop a few of these! The baked Pork Bun ($1.90), however, is underwhelming. The flaky crust is nice, but the pork filling is too hard and sweet for my liking. Perhaps it will fare better if it is warmed up. Nonetheless, wouldn’t mind returning just for the egg tart, or the coconut egg tart that I did not manage to try as it was sold out when I went.

Finally tried these famous diamond-shaped egg tarts!!! First bite instantly shouted uniquely Singapore 🤤🤤 Crust was nothing to shout about, this isn’t the crumbly or flaky or buttery crust you’d expect, but it was thin crisp and did its job simply. The filling, oh the filling is a whole separate story. The filling was light and bursting with egginess, unlike any other egg tart I’ve tried before that deviate more towards Western/HK styles. The lighter filling also meant being able to eat more than one without the overwhelming buttery feeling 🐽🐽Though slightly pricy, quite worth the price for the occasional treat! 👍🏻👍🏻

This has to be the best egg tarts I ever had.

The crust is crispy. The egg pudding was neither too sweet or too bland. It's just hit the g spot.

Bought this to share with the wife. But I am ashamed to say that i finished it myself. All 6 of them.

Burp!!
