This dish was first created by the Muslim Chinese (Hui) people and it's recipe has been passed on for generations since the Tang Dynasty. Today in Lanzhou alone there are more than 1,000 beef noodle restaurants, an affirmation to the popularity of the dish. With Tongue Tip's Lanzhou outlet serving up to 900 bowls of noodles a day! Our original recipe uses hand-pulled noodles, halal meats and a clear broth cooked with more than 15 spices. Ingredients are sourced fresh and adhering to the highest quality. One look and you can tell that this Lanzhou rendition is slightly different from the sg style hawker beef noodles that we’re familiar with due to its clear soup. But the broth was nonetheless flavourful and very drinkable. I opted for the thin noodles and I really enjoyed its QQness without being too much of a mouthful.

You can choose to add $4 to make it a set with a braised egg, side dish and drink. Many choices to choose from for the side dish including braised tofu (recommend!!), pickled cucumbers, radish, black fungus and beansprouts etc etc. The braised egg was the outstanding side for me with all the herbal flavours heavily infused.

Worth every cent! The broth is light and refreshing. A small bowl is enough for one person. We added a small amount of chilli paste and vinegar into the soups and it taste great. For this bowl, we picked triangle noodle. Chewy and springy!

One of the favourites and I can know why after tasting it! Soooo delicious. The “numbness” (“ma” in Chinese) is well balanced with the soup. I cleared the soup! I picked the thinnest noodles for this bowl and it turn out to taste somewhat like “mee sua”. Still good. But because of its “thinness” the noodles is not as chewy. The beef was thinly sliced. Top some “chilli paste” they provide free at the side. Just perfect!

I must say their side dish wasn’t very fantastic though and quite salty. But the main dishes were superb.

Clear broth with rich flavors. Beef slices were tender and had a good mix of soft bones/tendons/flesh. Chilli flakes and oil mixture adds complements the flavor but is neither too "ma" nor too "la". Opted for the small flat noodles that were smooth and a little chewy. Worth a try.

Mala Beef Noodles with flat noodles and it was good as usual! The soup was really tasty because it wasn’t just laden with chilli oil so we liked it a lot.

The unassuming clear soup was light, comforting and surprisingly packed with flavour!

Pick from Signature/ Sauerkraut/ mala spicy or dry beef noodle, with dry chicken noodles as the only non-beef version; followed by the preferred thickness of your noodles. And I love that one is given the option to not have any coriander/ Chinese leek or chilli in the bowl.

I’d have preferred a more al-dente texture for the hand-pulled noodles. Also added on grilled chicken which was very juicy but a little on the salty side. Probably good for sharing.
