The new weekend brunch menu has this for those with hearty appetites.
It comprises of eggs scrambled with tomatoes and capsicums, and served with stewed black beans, guacamole, “Tajadas” (plantains) and an arepa (Venezuelan corn bread). Which makes it a refreshing change from the norm.

Because we had fallen in love with the #arepas we had in Toronto earlier this year, it was imperative to get a serving of the mealy soft Venezuelan corn bread again, this time stuffed with Head Chef Tamara’s take on the classic “Reina Pipiada” of shredded chicken, mayo and guacamole.

Mexican Head Chef Tamara Chavez has just launched a Weekend Brunch Menu that promises to take your tastebuds across the countries of Latin America. Whether your preference is to go light with small plates of tapas to share or hit the hearty portions of mains, there are choices aplenty.
As we perused the menu, a basket of complimentary fluffy bread drizzled with homemade Guajillo chili seed oil, thyme, Achiote oil and garlic landed on our table. We enjoyed munching on this while deciding on what to order.
I eventually picked the “Tortilla De Langostinos” ($32++), a gorgeous omelette chockfull of sweet and springy Tiger prawns from Argentina. It came crowned in onions and fresh “chalaquita” (Peruvian salsa). Love the bright punch the latter two brought to the dish.

Expected really good service as this is the sister restaurant of Ola Cocina Del Mar from MBFC. However, was vastly disappointed by the service. Was only told it was either between Happy Hour or One Burpple Beyond deal after placing our order for two beers. Service staff also cleared the plates fast and kept asking if we were done which is one of my major pet peeves. For 80 dollars, I'll rather stick to Ola Cocina.

Ordered Black Tallarines (squid ink pasta), Tiradito Japan-peru (salmon slices), placha de mariscos (seafood with veggies and quinoa in picture). Food, ambience and service was enjoyable however we were not informed of the bottle of sparkling water ($7 each) that suddenly appeared on our table and was poured to us which we started drinking amidst conversation.

Or as our server called it, chicken rice. Creamy rice with chicken and almonds, with a side of potatoes. Definitely a hearty dish!
