This was so lovely. Each mouthful had just the perfect ratio of mascarpone to soft cocoa sponge cake that was well infused with distinct coffee and marsala. Definitely one of the better ones we’ve had!

Was told that this is one of Cugini’s signature pastas and we can definitely understand why! Spaghetti tossed in olive oil, garlic and chilli with prawns and lots of grated mullet roe. The spice is not the most distinct, but the mullet roe stole the show! It was briny and smoky with a savouriness that reminded us of caviar and cheese (we loved it but also think it’s the kind of flavour you either love or hate 😂). The crunchy prawns were cooked just right and spaghetti al dente.

Our first time here at Cugini and the meal was great, while the friendly service was quick and attentive.

Risotto with seasonal mushrooms and parmesan cheese. A tasty vegetarian option to go for - it wasn’t mushy at all, was creamy, sufficiently cheesy and had a great bite. Enjoyed the variety of mushrooms for both their earthiness and textures.

points to note:

1. get a seat further away from the kitchen. the nearer it is, the hotter it is.
2. order the calamari
3. order the bruschetta
4. pasta servings are very generous
5. prawns are very very sweet
6. pineapple on hawaiian pizza was pretty sour
7. ravioli serving is massive, not just a few pieces of big ones but many many small ones

Veal ravioli... Handmade I think! Portion was small but taste was perfecto. Everything made and tasted real good. $29 ish for this plate. Slightly pricey and need to wait for more than half an hour but otherwise great place to hang with the buddies

Along the bustling streets of Club Street is a hidden gem in the form of Italian restaurant Cugini. Believing in good homemade food, this five-year-old trattoria takes pride in using quality ingredients imported from all over the world. For the best squid ink pasta in town, look no further. Expect a burst of flavors in your mouth with the squid ink fettuccine ($27.90) with seafood, green pea puree and mullet roe. Made with extra yolk, the fettuccine pasta is richer, with a touch of homemade bottarga sauce (a Mediterranean delicacy made of mullet roe) that gels everything together.
