Hai Huang Mee sua ($5) ⭐️ 4.5/5 ⭐️
XO seafood beehoon soup ($8.90) ⭐️4/5 (more like 4.2) ⭐️
Salted egg beehoon ($8.90) ⭐️ 4/5 ⭐️

🍴 Late to jump on the bandwagon but we finally tried this @foodkingnoc-recommended stall. Overall? Flavourful soupy noodles dishes brimming with fresh seafood that we see ourselves returning to.

Our favourite of the trio we tried was surprisingly the less popular and most affordable hai huang mee sua. The noodles were thicker than our usual mee sua, soft, and soaked up the seafood broth well. It was laced with clams, prawns, and squid. The definition of slurplicious!

We also really enjoyed the XO seafood soup, with a distinct swig of xo stirred in. We drank the whole bowl! The noodles here were uniquely springy - like konnyaku noodles in texture but maggie noodles in appearance. A few in the family could not get used to it, but the rest of us liked it! Served with fresh chunks of squid, fish, clams, and prawns.

The salted egg beehoon had the same springy konnyaku noodles. The salted egg really shined through and complemented the briny base well, although it was heavier and could feel jelat over time.

The bee hoon tasted like konjac noodles. I could not taste the salted egg. The gravy tasted same as the gravy for mee sua. It was served with clams, scallops and one prawn. No egg or squid. I prefer the mee sua over this and it's at a cheaper price too.

The gravy was very flavourful and can taste the wok hei. The taste reminds me of hokkien mee. The mee sua is like very smooth u-mian, prefer this over the bee hoon. It was served with egg, a lot of clams and one prawn.

Originated from Kepong, KL, @tryfreshxosg has over 5 outlets in 🇲🇾 and the first overseas outlet is right here in 🇸🇬 since mid 2019. Its popularity shot up tremendously after the release of @foodkingnoc video in December last year, resulting in long snaking queues during peak hours. Not exactly sure if the hype has died down but there wasn’t a queue on a Wednesday night.

Imported from 🇲🇾, their special Crystal Beehoon has the texture and mouthfeel that I never had before. It’s springy, delightfully chewy and somewhat reminds me of Maggi Mee🙃. Works perfectly with their custom made soup broth, I’d actually come back again for their XO Seafood Bee Hoon. Using Hennessy VSOP cognac in the seafood broth, each spoonful had that slight alcoholic kick and was packed with bold flavours. Special mention goes out to their cuttlefish slices (hidden behind the beehoon), which were perfectly cooked and had a nice bite.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
