I have been extremely impressed with everything @twgteaofficial has kindly gifted me over several occasions. Yes, their tea collection is world-famous but I also found their mooncakes creative and scrumptious (they were my favourite collection of 2020), and now, it is their Christmas goodies that have me wreathed in smiles.
Besides the Grand Christmas Tea Flavoured Chocolate Bonbons which my niece has pretty much hijacked the box of, and the Grand Christmas Tea-infused Pistachio Macarons with their perfect soft crunch, it is the Hazelnut Caramel Log Cake with its layers of hazelnut and white chocolate crumble that has bowled me over. Flavours are rich yet it’s not too sweet. And to top it off, this festive cake has the most luxurious mouthfeel.
Highly recommended.

A surprise less noticed in my visits to TWG Tea Salon for my tea sessions, this Rum Baba (S$13.00) was listed on the desserts menu but was easily overlooked since I would normally go for their afternoon tea selections.

Comprising a cake soaked with rum and decorated with Chantilly cream, rum jelly and a scoop of Vanilla Bourbon Tea ice cream, this was like a light version of a liqueur dessert thanks to the alcoholic content from the cake and the jelly. However, it was well-balanced with the richness of the ice cream, making this a desirable dessert for two.

Where a tea pairing is concerned, try it with the Geisha Blossom Tea, as the fragrance from the cherry blossom and fruity notes could complement the dessert quite beautifully.

This black tea have much more “presence” than their earl grey ones! However, the buttery taste from the scottish biscuit still wins at the flavour run in my tongue.

Always love the strong fragance from the teas at TWG and hence i have high hopes on their shortbread. But nope! Their earl grey flavour here is definitely not enough even though the looks of the cookie seems full of flavour. I can only taste the buttery shortbread which overpower the hint of earl grey that is presence in the shortbread.

A fresh drop of @twgteaofficial’s “Darjeeling First Flush Tea” will take place tomorrow.
Known as “the champagne of teas”, it is due to the unique terroir of this Northeastern region in India—cool temperature, high altitude, distinctive soil and rainfall—that yields such a highly-prized black tea. However, that is only half the story. The other half of Darjeeling tea’s desirability is attributed to the entire process from cultivation to harvesting to the way the plant is looked after. For a clearer understanding, I suggest steeping yourself in the inaugural “TWG Tea Origin Stories” by award-winning documentary filmmaker and journalist @fraser_ross_morton and be captivated by the journeys he takes us on, through the renowned plantations that TWG collaborates with to conceive some of the world’s most exceptional harvests. You should be able to find them by searching for “TWG Tea Origin Stories” on YouTube.
In the first film, Darjeeling is the focus. Before settling down to watch earlier, I decided to brew myself a cup of the Phuguri FTGOP1, an exclusive @twgteaofficial first flush harvest and one of the most fragrant. Its finely-rolled olive green leaves from the Phuguri estate has the aroma of deep red summer fruits and leaves a lingering aftertaste of Brazil nuts and hazelnuts. Never had I encountered a Darjeeling tea so delicate yet complex until I took a sip of it. Now that my curiosity is piqued, I can’t wait to savour the Puttabong SFTGFOP1 and the Orange Valley SFTGFOP1 before culminating my Darjeeling sojourn with the DarjeelingFirstFlush 2020 Haute Couture Tea Collection. This exclusive offering in a tall slim tin is created by TWG’s CEO Taha, and features the best of all the single estates’ tea blended together for the optimal balance of strength and complexity.
