Two Birds One Stone

We woke up at 7am for breakfast, and shared this plate which we would also call the Mushroom Heaven. Because there's really lots of different types of mushrooms here, sautéed on soy and linseed toast. This also came with cauliflower, kale, goat's cheese, crispy shallots and poached eggs. Very tasty.

Contemporary 

Two Birds One Stone is a popular breakfast and brunch cafe with above average food. Go for the Eggs Benedict's With Smoked Ham & Bearnaise ($17) for a really awesome pairing of eggs and meat. The Soft Shell Crab Burger ($18) is also a famous choice. For something a little more interesting, go for the Salted 5 and Dime Bagel ($15) which features double smoked bacon, a fried egg, topped with watercress and tomato relish.

This is a strong blend, one of the strongest that I've tasted here in Melbourne, with a note of cereal in the aftertaste. 

For eggs benedicts, the poached eggs are the star of the show. However, they are most often accompanied by a lacklustre supporting cast of meat; as Cephas put it "eggs benedict's suffer mediocre meat...". The main star put up an above average performance oozing out nicely from its shell of egg white. However, it seemed as if the supporting actor almost overshadowed his main man. Smoked ham was crazy juicy and had such a pure taste of meatish saltiness, definitely deserving an award for his stellar performance. The bearnaise was light and creamy, pairing well with his counterparts. One of the better breakfast dishes I had here in Melbourne. Worth the 40 minute wait.
