Visiting TMBH's Novena branch without making an order of the RIBS ($14) is akin to giving yourself a jab in the ribs.

Lame puns aside, I enjoyed this combination of smoked spiced ribs and hobo greens with jalapeño puree and rib BBQ sauce. Flavours were pretty intense but extremely well-rounded, with a peppery spice that gave off a consistent buzz of heat. All in all, this was an immensely satisfying bagelwich, and I'd order it again in a heartbeat.

We meet again, fatty bits. Smoked brisket takes center stage in the PRIMAL ($14), a no-nonsense bagelwich that's sure to cater to every carnivore's primordial desires.

No extra fanciful add-ons needed, save for house pickles, cheddar and mustard BBQ, that served to enhance (and not overwhelm) the juicy slabs of brisket. Once again, choosing cheddar as my choice of bagel was a decision made without hesitation.

If you're bored of your regular sandwich, try a bagel-wich from Two Men Bagel House. Compared to the hardcore smoked meat varieties (e.g. the Primal and The Ribs), the Codfish Pâté is a lighter alternative for people who're not fond of big and bold flavours. I love that the cod salad is smoky yet refreshing, with specks of saltiness from the All Sorts bagel (basically an all-in-one bagel with the herbs and seeds all thrown in). It can be a little messy to eat, so you'll be better off throwing your work aside and have a nice sit-down meal instead of having this on-the-go.
