1 for 1 Unagi Don at $17.80 nett! Limited to 30 redemptions per day

Location: Tsukiji Unagi Daioh, DON DON DONKI JCube, 2 Jurong East Central 1 , #B1 18/19 stall-2, Singapore

✨Mabushi Double✨
They were a little stingy with the miso soup, the bowl was smaller than the usual soup bowl size. The rice did not have much sauce, causing it to be a little dry when it reaches the bottom. The unagi is soft, chewy and smoky, which goes really well with the plain rice.

💰: $16.40
📈: 8.5/10

This one’s located in JCube Don Don Donki as part of their Japanese shokuji or food court. I ordered the Premium Mabushi Bento at $16.10. Well worth the hefty price for a simple lunch because you get large pieces of fresh unagi freshly grilled and a bowl of miso soup. One bite of the unagi transporter me back to Aichi Prefecture near Toyota head quarters where I had the best unagi bento in my life. Straightaway you can tell this is fresh unagi, not the pre-grilled and frozen stuff common in local Japanese restaurants and fast food stalls. The eel is very fat and the meat is tender. The skin of the eel is left on the cuts and it provides a different texture.

Very good. Must go back soon, if only to eat and reminisce about the visits to Japan during this global pandemic that makes travel prohibitive.

The unagi don is better. The slice was thicker, more charred, and wider too. Moreover, it doesn't require Jpoints (but that's until the end of the month only). So weird haha

Not to say this is bad. It's fine with the one for one, not paying the full price for this

0 points required, get it asap (ends on 28th Feb, daily 30 redemptions)

But don't worry, I doubt there's a lot of ppl redeeming haha based on the crowd flow at jcube

Anyway, this is a pretty solid unagi don. Does satisfy cravings, it's also a little bit charred. Don't compare it to the atas places like manman, otherwise it's pretty worth

Thanks to Don Don Donki, we have the chance to taste some of the unique Japanese food here in Singapore, with their food court selection.

I came across this stall when I visited their food court in JCube. It said that they only use Nihon unagi, a finest unagi with savoury fat, soft flesh and thin skin.

For unagi fan like me I definitely want to go for their jumbo set ($39.90) that come in the whole unagi slice, together with seasonal Japanese rice and miso soup.

I might have set higher expectation even though it is still a stall in food court. The portion was big, but unfortunately the savoury taste has kind of overwhelming until it felt hard to finish the whole unagi till the end.

The rice was a bit too dry and the miso soup wasn’t help because of the strong savoury taste as well.

But please don’t stop you from trying the others offered on the menu. You could get as cheap as $9.90 for a small bowl of mabushi.
