The great thing about this place is that it’s quite empty at night, so you could slowly slurp on your beef pho while savouring the taste of that delicious broth.

Seriously, even the grilled chicken dry pho is great too!

Such a perfect bowl in this rainy sweater weather. A bowl of piping hot soup with a hint of lemongrass and coriander. It had a generous serving of tender sliced beef and also beef meatballs. Sprinkled with crunchy onions, beansprout and filled with slippery white noodle. It reminded me of tomyam soup but with a different flavor profile.

I like how it's not too spicy, but you can adjust the level of garlic and spice with condiments by the side. Just a tinge of spice on the lips and palate. It's super warm and the very definition of comfort food. The taste of the herbs wasn't too in-your-face which is always a problem I have with Vietnamese food. The meat wasn't rubbery and overcooked and the meatballs in particular were just bouncy and juicy enough.

I exited the homely, comfy restaurant profusely thanking my dining partner for intro-ing me to this little place tucked away among the office buildings.


Oh my goodness these are so delicious. I was initially put off by the strange summer rolls; stuffed full of noodles and wrapped in a chewy skin. But oh boy these were a fantastic medley of textures and flavors. The soft slippery noodle, bouncy sweet prawn, crunch of the vegetables and that burst of fruity tanginess from a stick of pineapple.

The deep fried spring rolls were delicious too, fried to order, evident from their crispiness and warmth when they arrived. They were stuffed with a mixture of mushroom and vegetables, and actually dripped with juiciness as I bit into it. Such a delight. Kinda like a freshly fried ngoh hiang.


Hidden among all these tall buildings of offices is Uncle Ho tuckshop. This has to be one of the better Vietnamese pho place I ever tried. Pho is generously plentiful, and wow that broth! It’s really another dimension!

So lucky for those working near here!


You may easily brush-off this item on their menu a being one of those boring vegetarian options but Uncle Ho's Tuckshop does a simple yet delish Spring Onion Omelette Banh Mi ($7.90). Cradled nicely between the homemade crusty-soft baguette, the golden folds were fragrant and nicely seasoned. And much like a Vietnamese-style eggs on toast, the combination also makes for a quick breakfast perk-me-up with crunchy vegetables and tangy pickles stuffed within. Drizzled with a little Sriracha sauce, the bundle includes a slow, tantalizing tongue-numbing heat too (of course more so for me, due the fact that I can't handle spice).


A delicious hidden gem that I finally got down to visiting after @rinns recommendation, Uncle Ho Tuckshop located inside a commercial building offers some kickass Vietnamese noodles (psst maybe even one of the best in Singapore imho).

Having their signature and the very dish made famous when Anthony Bourdain gave Barack Obama a crash course on Vietnamese cuisine in Hanoi, their Buncha Lunch Value Set Meal which includes a drink ($14.90) was simply delightful and amazingly appetising.

Served with a sweet tangy broth with a mixture of grilled pork belly and grilled meatball, the Buncha is to be eaten like a Vietnamese Soba, adding condiments in to enhance the flavours and dipping the rice vermicelli into the soup. And of course in true Vietnamese style, a side of fresh greens and herbs to introduce different textures and taste to the bowl.

Though a tad astringent with its base flavour being pickled vegetables, the sourish elements really supplement and amp up the broth. Won’t recommend drinking it as a soup but man it is super shiok - a balanced and harmonious blend. But the highlight for me was certainly the thin slices of pork that reminded me of bacon at first bite and the well-seasoned grilled meatballs. Slurps. Their iced lemongrass-pandan was two thumbs-up, too.
