The founder came from Selangor, Malaysia; which took the inspiration from the famous Village Nasi Lemak, and open a stall here at Telok Ayer.

I try Village Nasi Lemak back in Selangor many years ago so couldn’t remember the taste anymore. But this one did remind me of it.

The chicken fried perfectly with the spicy spices and they are generous with the chilli sauce. The rice sadly wasn’t lemak enough to me.

It is still worth trying especially you are looking for some Malaysia taste here. $7.50

Rice has some coco fragrance and wasn't clumpy, but I think it's on the more healthy side as opposed to very lemak rice. But there's sufficient flavour! The crisp stuff atop the rice was v nice! The ikan bilis was the most meh component, it wasn’t ultra crisp. Roasted peanuts were crunchy (ok its v hard to screw up peanuts), chicken drumstick was quite tender, with v delish crisp skin! It wasn't very fatty so i didn't rly have to dig out the layer of fat. I liked that they gave achar (not every nasi lemak does this), and the chili was nubbad - spicy enough but not overly so, and there was a nice balance of savoury and sweet. Cucumbers were crunchy too. Would recommend, and the long queue for this is an indicator that this is p good / a worthy lunchtime option!

If you have had Kuala Lumpur’s Village Park Nasi Lemak, I must say this is a really close substitute since the borders are closed.
Rice is lemak, chicken is freshly fried - crispy, tender and hot, sambal chili has a right balance of spiciness and sweetness. I added the beef rendang but sadly, it was gamy and not great.

Huge portions! I had whole chicken leg w beef rendang. Chicken was crispy outside and so tender inside! Rendang was so aromatic! Rice was so so, but sambal is totally the bomb! Really really good!

Hipster. The highlight was the chilli, which although spicy, was obviously homemade and was complex. The nasi had minimal lemak, which doesn't cut it for me, while the chicken leg leaned towards dry.

Ordered from @uptownnasilemak their crispy, juicy, succulent fried chicken leg and added sambal Sotong all In for $9.30. Damn worth it! 👍
