If you love ā€œtong suiā€ or Chinese hot dessert soups, you need to catch this food truck in Ipohā€™s Old Town to try their peanut and black sesame pastes. I am not exaggerating when I say theirs is the best Iā€˜ve ever had. Whatā€™s more, this kind of dessert isnā€™t something that usually interests me.
Ground until ultra smooth, both of their pastes are extremely fragrant, have the perfect consistency and boast a purity in taste. I donā€™t know if it is my imagination but I also detect a smokiness as well, so I am guessing the ingredients had been carefully roasted before being used.
Even if you prefer one flavour over the other, I highly recommend trying the blended version as well. Swirled and slurped as one, the peanut and black sesame pastes are a match made in heaven.
The mobile food truck which is now run by the second generation of the founder, also serves a simple fried noodle but I didnā€™t try that as we had just come from a big lunch.
It seems they donā€™t have an official name but you can find their truck parked outside ā€œV-Nest Healthy & Wellnessā€ (which is where I have used as a geo-tag) from 3pm to 5.30pm everyday except Sundays. After that, they drive off to continue selling at one of the Pasar Malams (night markets) around Ipoh. There is suppose to be some sort of a schedule for those (Iā€™m sure Google can provide that information), so this food truck can be found at a different location every night.
