One of Korea’s hottest restaurants, Vatos Urban Tacos, has come to Singapore. Influenced by Mexican street tacos in Los Angeles and home-cooked Korean meals, the menu consists of creations like the Kimchi Carnitas Fries, Galbi Tacos, and Spicy Chicken Quesadillas. Vatos Urban Tacos has since garnered praise for providing exciting new tastes using only the freshest ingredients. CNN named Vatos the “Hottest New Restaurant in Seoul,” and The Daily Meal chose Vatos as one of the “10 Best American Restaurants Outside of the States”. Vatos Singapore is located in the beautiful former National Armoury Building in South Beach and can seat up to 80 people indoors and another 30 people outdoors.

I first tried Vatos Taco in Korea at the original branch. The food is exceptionally better than the one in Singapore. I had the Carnita Kimchi Fries which did not have enough condiments on it. The Chorizo Kimchi Fried Rice had a very strong herbal taste from the Chorizo which did not match very well. But the good items were the Barbacoa Spring Rolls which were flavorful and crispy along with the Tequila Honey Chicken Wings which were sweet and tangy with a crispy jalapeno topping. Overall, the meal was 6 out of 10. A bit overpriced for bar food but it was themed with the Korean/Mexican fusion which made it unique.

Mango and passion fruit

Tastes almost similar! got this with our Burpple beyond deal and tacos!

Huge mug of drink that was pretty strong too!

$15.30 each after BB for 6 mains, 1 side and 4 drinks (2 of which were humongous)

Vato's Ritas: Sexy Sanchez & Grow a pear

Total: $55.32

Love the chill and cozy ambience at the resturant, best for afterwork gathering and chillax session. Food was great, both the tacos and burrito were fushion done right. Portion was big and very filling too. For the drinks, Sexy Sanchez was a little too strong for me who has low level of tolerance for alcohol but nonetheless it went very well with the food. The drink was also good enough for 2. Great deal provided by Beyond again, will be back as I really enjoyed the chill vibe.

This place is absolutely buzzing on the weekends - was really lucky to snag a table on a Friday night! We tried the Carne Asada (beef, $19++) and Kimchi Pork ($18++). The quesadillas are not quite the usual - instead of being filled with cheese, the tortilla wraps were coated with it and grilled to crisp! It made for a sinfully good meal. Found the steak flavourful but a tad bit difficult to chew. The pork belly was more tender, and the kimchi within gave a delightful spicy zest that helped break up the savoury heaviness of the cheese. Both were topped with onions, cilantro, sour cream and chilli sauce! Plus points to Vatos for the complimentary starter - the nachos paired well with the tangy salsa and guacamole 👍🏼🌟

Highly recommend the baja (fish) ($17 for 3). The chimichurri chicken is good and meaty too. My friends and I enjoyed also the prawn a previous visit.

The carne asada is quite chewy and too spicy for us. Braised carnitas has a lot of meat but nothing special.

I like soft flour tortillas and these were warm and super soft.
