Given the vulgar name of this dish, and the chef's recommendation, we thought this was a must-try and we ordered it. The Fat Bastard is a mismash of many things and you can expect beef and pork as the meat ingredients for this dish. It is topped with guacamole, cilantro onion, pico de gallo, and there is salsa and the stall's signature hot sauce added. The serving size was really generous and you can expect to get pretty full from this dish, even though it is priced only at $23++! That being said, it is a mix of many tastes and no flavour really stands out.

Given the bar-like vibes at Vatos, we decided that we had to get an alcoholic beverage and what caught our eye was the passion fruit makgeolita. The drink comprises two different types of alcohol - makgeolli (i.e., Korean rice wine) and tequila. However, you taste none of those as the drink also contains a rather concentrated passion fruit zest, which pretty much made the drink taste like a passion fruit beverage with alcoholic undertones.

We can see why the drink can be deceivingly strong though - it doesn't taste much like alcohol and as a result, you may end up drinking it much more quickly than you should be. 😅 The drink costs $28++, which is fairly standard for a 1L alcoholic beverage. Thankfully, we used Burpple's 15% off voucher to enjoy a discount!

Vatos was surprisingly crowded on a Monday evening even during this stabilisation phase and you should make a reservation before heading down!

Decided to try out this popular Central American street food. Consist of masa a flour made from blue corn with shredded chicken filling. Once you open the pack and pierce the cover piping hot steam rose from inside. The filling was pretty standard chicken and couldn’t taste any bell pepper. The real star of the dish was the corn masa- soft with a delicate nutty flavor. You have to eat it pretty quickly else it gets dry. Condiments (chimmichuri and cream) served on the side were pretty good but really small quantity.

Place does get crowded, reservations are recommended. Portions aren't very huge, which might require ordering more.

Pico de Gallo is the name of the dip, which mainly comprises diced tomatoes and onions in a slightly sourish sauce containing a whiff of lemon and lime. The starter is served with nachos and you may want to try it as you can only get this unique dip at a Mexican restaurant! That being said, we think their seasoned fries are still the best starter because the fries come in a much larger serving and the chipotle sauce that comes with the fries is a lot more flavourful! 😋

Tried this once before and we are getting it again because that is how good Vatos' fish tacos are! Each serving contains three tortilla wraps, each containing a piece of crispy beer-battered fish and is further topped with apple salad. Chipotle sauce is also added to each taco and this gives the fish a slightly smoky and tangy taste due to the smoked jalapenos in the sauce!

We will be sure to get this every single time although we would like to highlight that the tacos do not come cheap, costing $18++ for 3! Hence, be sure to use your Burpple vouchers if you subscribed to Burpple Beyond and you can enjoy 15% off your total bill, provided you spend at least $60 (before GST and service charge) for your meal. Shouldn't be an issue if you are there in a bigger groups!

Do make a reservation as Vatos is really popular on Friday nights and over the weekends!
