Kinda lost count the number of times we have been here but each time we will definitely order these items:
1. steamed carrot cake with XO sauce (comes with chunky bits of radish that melts in your mouth),
2. glutinous chicken rice (my hub who had never ordered glutinous rice at any dim sum place repented after he ate this)
3. steamed pork ribs (it's just so good and so fresh and the meat juice is totally slurps)
And many more... Prices are really affordable without service charge nor GST as it's a casual eatery with old school set up.
For a quick Dim Sum meal in an air-conditioned environment, I was introduced to Victor’s Kitchen which sold mostly familiar fried and steamed delicate snacks.
One of the most satisfying items that I ordered, among the complete menu, was their Golden Egg Yolk Lava Bun (S$4.80 for 3 pieces). When eaten hot, the custard lava, which had a nice ratio of sweet and savoury flavours, would ooze out from the core of the steamed bun. While it was a must-get from this visit, try not to bite the Pau directly, but to attempt to tear it apart, just in case if the hot fillings could scald your mouth.
One of my favourite dishes here. It’s sufficiently sour, savoury and sweet - good balance of flavours. They don’t skimp on the vinegar cause it’s quite sour which I appreciate, and that’s how it’s supposed to be!
We tried almost everything on the menu, and everything was pretty good, especially the prawn based dishes like har gao and fried prawn dumplings. What we wouldn’t order again though: cheong fun and the glutinous rice.
The cold drinks also come with an ice bath which we appreciated!
I think victor’s kitchen serves one of the best zha liang in Singapore! Have tried it from several dimsum places but none were as crisp as this, with a smooth ccf skin. It was truly a satisfying treat :)
The best yuan Yang I have ever tasted. The ratio of Kopi & Teh was perfect. Sweetness level perfect. Good strong taste not diluted by ice. I loved this.
