Vietnam Cafe Food

Vietnam Cafe Food has all the portents of a disastrous food establishment (24/7 opening hours, cliched name, garish interior design, literally the thickest menu I have ever flipped through in my entire life, and a location in Changkat of all places) and yet to my minor astonishment, it also has the most authentic Hanoi-like food in town. I'm serious. That pho broth sent my pleasure receptors back to Hanoi and took away their passports. .

The beef leaves a lot to be desired though. And I mainly desired...good beef. Or at least decent beef. The slices here are tough and gnarly, though I'll chalk that up to a very quiet lunch service on a weekday and will be back to test again. AND YET even taking that into consideration, this pho blows every other bowl I've tried out of the KL water. The broth is fantastic. .

But, you may be wondering, why did not I take bun cha if this is so Hanoi-like? Well, bad news, folks. There's no pork here, not a sign of it throughout its exhaustive, exhausting menu-thesis. So you could play safe and stick with the pho bo (perhaps try asking for raw brisket) or grab a bunch of stuff to share and see what's good. I've only tried the bun cha gio which wasn't that nice, so I'm very much due for a second visit. Lemme know if you're going.
