Frequented by locals, the place was packed during lunch hours so best to head down early.

Their main dish was Kuay Jup (THB60), clear pepper-base soup with rice noodles, crispy pork belly and pork entrails. Or those who aren’t a fan of entrails, you can choose tender pork slices instead. The soup was just right and not overly peppery as you slurp up those soft rolled up rice noodles.

But the highlight will be their Signature Crispy Pork (THB55/plate or THB550 for 1KG). Perfectly done with the right amount of meat to fat layer and an incredibly crispy skin at the top. Dipping into the dark sweet sauce, these are so crackling good that we devoured it down in no time.

I am just left in awe at how they are able to achieve that level of crispiness on that golden crackling skin. Pick up a piece, dip it in the sweet savoury dipping sauce (made from palm sauce, vinegar, sugar) and you will be transported to crispy pork heaven. Truly one of the outrageously good crispy pork bellies that leaves its competitors straddling behind the finishing line.

Joe.

Upon reaching the eatery, it is literally music to my ears from the clinks and clanks from the spatula and bowls to the cutting of the crispy pork. Be patient after you’ve ordered as there will most probably be tables waiting for their orders to be served to the throng of delivery men crowding near the entrance waiting for their package before scooting off.

There are two options to the kway chap (60 THB), you can either have the full works with innards or just crispy pork and pork chunks. The broth is wonderfully spiced with ground pepper that leaves a tingling sensation to your tongue while the rolled up rice noodles act as a vessel to scoop up more broth for an explosion of flavours from each spoonful. As for the signature crispy pork belly (55 THB), doubt I need to explain further. The perfect balance of fats to meat with a biscuit-like skin that crackles from each bite. There will be an instant withdrawal symptom once you have devoured the entire plate and will be clamoring for more. Sadly, I need to reserve stomach space for street food number two in my later posts as I left the place with my heart (and tummy) filled.

Joe is slightly different that even my local friends agree with that. Especially the roasted pork, the skin is just extra crispy and flavourful that you have to order an additional plate (60 THB) of it as the few pieces in your kway chap (60 THB) will never be enough. If you have not had Thai kway chap before, the rolled rice noodles are in a peppery broth and served with roasted pork and pig entrails. Very satisfying and comforting that even though it might be humid outside and you are literally sweating while eating, you will still not be deterred from this enjoyable treat.
