While Mahua doesn’t charge service tax, the service was excellent. Very attentive manager watching over the queue and directing us to the seats. Food were cooked in mere minutes and served piping hot.

The skewers (chicken) were excellent. The green pepper was fresh and the chicken was nicely charred! The seasoning was also on point. Would definitely recommend.

Tried the beef lamian, tomato soup lamian and lamb skewers. The dishes unfortunately need more oomph, and could've been a lot more flavourful.

Feels like a watered down version, and but at least it's worth a shot.

The beef noodles here ($9.90/11.90) is not the best I've had, but still hits the spot for the recent rainy weather. The soup is fragrant and the beef slices are tender. The mutton skewers ($3.50 per stick) are amazing, as the charred flavours and aromatic spices are strong, but really rather expensive though.

One of the simplest Chinese noodle dishes. This dish is served cold and packed with soy scallion flavour. The noodles are infused with fragrant scallion oil and garnished with crispy fried scallions slices 》$10.80

Walked past Western Mahua several times and finally decided to head over there for dinner on one of the evenings to get a taste of this popular chained restaurant’s Lanzhou noodles. The menu is pretty extensive with many noodle and snack options and I got for myself the Pickled Chicken Soup with Fatty Beef La Mian ($11.30). My collection of this pickled vegetable soup back when I first had it in China, was that the broth truly packs a punch in terms of the tanginess and spiciness that lingers at the back of your tongue. True enough, this bowl brought back these fond memories which will whet your appetite from the start but will make you reach out for a cold beverage as well. In terms of the quantity, you are definitely getting your money’s worth as the noodle portion is huge that I only managed to finish half of it while the fatty beef is a good complement to the overall experience. Perhaps I am not too used to it, but I find the flavour too sourish for me.
