Whampoa Soya Bean (Albert Centre Market)

Soft, silky, smooth beancurd topped with ginkgo and grass jelly. The perfect old-school dessert to have any time of the day. And for $2.50 a bowl? What a steal! ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣

Whampoa beancurd and soya bean is my default place to go for a consistently good and fresh beancurd .

Forget mr bean’s beancurd which is seemingly hard , stiff and “ not made on site” these days ...

Go for the real stuff . Whampoa soya bean is so silky, smooth, jiggly and most importantly made freshly on site . I previously had whampoa beancurd at whampoa Hawker , clementi Central Hawker and old airport Hawker - all of which were either less accessible or “ too stifling hot “ to sit and eat in .

Surprised to find this stall at albert street Hawker and in fact , there were many notable stalls like Li fang porridge , a Hk style Claypot rice stall, the stall selling black and white combo carrot cake , Wu shi nan tai yong Tau fu ( which looks intriguing with their quite orange queer looking prawn paste ) and angel Teochew fish soup ( which had a queue even at 5 pm ) .

I say go for this bowl of bean-y good comfort first before your eyes distract you and take you to the more sinful food .

At 1.30 , this was really very for money .
Ask for some complimentary soya bean water to be added to your beancurd - if you enjoy eating your beancurd the way I do .
