Yummy, but the best part is the Gula Melaka Ice cream! So if you are on a budget, I'll suggest getting the single scoop Gula Melaka ice cream SGD 3.20++ instead!

Though pricier than most places, this is is a nice rendition suitable for those who dislike oily and MSG laden rice and tough overcooked chicken.

This will make a very good choice if you are introducing our local chicken rice to a foreign friend. Nicely presented, delicious yet not outrageously priced like those at a hotel's, this will be where I'll bring my foreign friends, especially if they are fussy about the ambience since this place is clean, air-conditioned and cozily decorated.

This restaurant has been around since 1978. It serves both local and western dishes. Good place to go if you crave the old cooking styles.

Bubbling curry in an Claypot. Mua ha ha ha..... No smurfs were killed.

11.50 for Chicken rice? The audacity! But if that restaurant has been in existence since 1978, something has to be going right for the chicken rice. After a stomach growling wait, we found out what those things were. Tender, plump chicken, perfectly balanced rice with just the right amount of spices and oiliness and some of the most flavourful soup that I've ever tasted with chicken rice. Considering some chicken rice can come up to 8 bucks a set in foodcourts these days, I'd say this chicken rice is well worth it! Time for us to gear up and try some of their other tze char fare!

#dinner at this 35yo restaurant. Their Monday set was chicken/pork chop (tasted like it was prepared with a Hainanese recipe), cream of mushroom (with broccoli bits), ice cream and coffee/tea, all for $11.90++.
