[SIGLAP, SINGAPORE] please come here for their Chinese desserts, especially their Orh Nee, because it might be one of the best I've had 🥹
@withinthewalls.sg is a cozy traditional HK themed bar with really decent food and delicious desserts. They just released a new shao kao menu, and the meats we tried were tender and flavourful!
They also sell dishes with sharing portions that are quite large, and we liked the Shrimp Fried Rice 🍤 ($8.80) and Dry Style Shrimp Garlic Vermicelli 🦐 ($15.80) as it was quite addictive!
I saw many people ordering their desserts and I can see why. The rendition of their Yam Paste 🍠 ($7.90) is a combination between the sweet and savoury variations, resulting in a really rich and smooth paste that isn't too sweet.
Overall, the food was really decent and prices were reasonable. They have outdoor seats too to accommodate your furry friends 🐾

猫山王榴莲西米露(配猫山王果肉)MSW Durian Sago with MSW Flesh (S$12.90++)
Could smell the pungent smell from far. Chunk of durian flesh over sago, topped with gula melaka. Very shiok!
混合汤圆(姜汤)Mixed Tang Yuan With Ginger Soup (S$6.50++)
Love the thin skinned rice dumplings.
The orh nee was silky smooth but leaned a little too sweet for my liking. Thankfully, the steamed egg pudding came in clutch. Soft, light and mellow enough to balance things out.
Yam Paste (Orh Nee) 》$7.90

Their boiled white glutinous rice flour dough balls have a soft chewy sticky texture, with mild grainy sweet flavour. Filled with either a thick chunky peanut paste with bright nutty sweet flavour, or a creamy grainy black sesame seed paste with deep earthy nutty sweet flavour.
.
Served in a thin ginger and rock sugar broth with sweet spice flavour. Warm and calming.

Their rendition uses chicken egg white without the yolks, resulting in a pure white hue. The ginger syrup is served on the side, allowing diners to add as much or as little, as they wish.
.
Has a wobbly soft smooth juicy texture, carrying lovely eggy sweet savoury spice herbal milky flavour. Warm and soulful.
